When you "paint" your Black and White image with the Color Blend mode - by using "color" it will automatically blend in with the shading and color of the B/W image below based on the shading. You do not have to be overly "neat" however you can always clean up if you "color" outside the lines with the eraser tool. Have fun!!
    :beat:beat

Just wanted to post 2 screen shots one from PSE 11 and the other from CC2015 in regards to how I painted the b/w images.

    • The first thing you need to do is to start with a Black & White image. Either it is originally B/W or you make your photo B/W by desaturating, using an action, or using an adjustment layer. (There are many ways to change an image to B/W. Do whatever is easier for you.)
    • Adjust lighting levels (or curves in Photoshop) to suit your taste. **Note- if it is too "white" it will not accept color... it needs a light gray tinge to color.**
    • If desired, add a filter gallery texture to your B/W image.
    • Now begins the fun part :thumbsups the same thing is done for both PSE and PS/CC. Add a layer above the B/W photo and change blend mode to COLOR then choose a brush tool. Choose whatever brush you wish to use - soft, watercolor etc. Experiment !! I set the brush opacity to about 35 and start to paint in the area. Adjust opacity to your liking as 35 may be too light or too dark for you.
    • Continue making a new COLOR blend mode layer for each item and paint it in... example- Eyes, Skin, lips, etc.
    • Once completed, decorate as desired.
Here are two examples... one in PSE and one in PS/CC with the color layers. Have fun!!!
