Anyone have ideas for what we should read next? And was 4 weeks enough time for reading, or do we need to adjust that?
I think 4 weeks was plenty of time, but I read a lot. Some ideas for the next one... Divergent One Day Unbroken
I have read Divergent and it was really good. I have heard great things about Unbroken too. I also have this book Mudbound on my to-read list (I think from a suggestion from Julie on goodreads).
Divergent sounds really good - put it on my to read list - but is it too much like the genre of The Giver and Matched? I HATED One Day, but I'm curious what others thought. I'd love to read Unbroken Mudbound would make a great book to discuss! Also suggest: The Bronze Horseman (first in a trilogy) Shanghai Girls Every Last One The Soldier's Wife Plainsong
It is definitely the same genre as The Giver and Matched, so we might want to go a different direction this time.
I'm not picky what we read. 4 weeks is definitely enough time. I think I read slow and I won't start reading whatever we pick until about a week before it's due so it will still be fresh in my mind. I do like the extra time so I can get the book from the library though.
Like Laura, please something different! I haven't heard of any of those mentioned so I will go look them up.
I just saw this one at Barnes & Noble yesterday and thought it looked interesting. What did you not like about it?
ouuu Julie's books sound good and interesting.... Unbroken and One Day are on my list to read....and i was actually going to suggest The Helper also, it's on my list too! Here Be Dragons still sounds fun too! I actually just bought Song of the Exile yesterday- would love to read this as a group.... as well as Shark Dialogues - also by the same author... i adore Hawaiian History!
I also have this on my to read list, but it might be a little deep and depressing: thirteen reasons why
I just never connected with the characters at all, and the book was incredibly boring to me. And the ending stunk (IMO )
The Bronze Horsemen is on my list and I heard it was amazing! Some others that sound interesting: The Day Before The Host (I have never read this LOL!) The Sky is Everywhere The Tea Rose To Be Queen:A Novel of the Early Life of Eleanor of Aquitaine
ok, I have an opinion now. I'm reading both Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly and Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand for my library's reading program over the next few weeks... so let's do one of those!
