Do You Wear Jewelry?

I have always worn a few gold rings but I started gravitating towards the cooler metals, mostly sterling silver. I gave up wearing necklaces and bracelets years ago b/c they got in the way of work and dog play (snagging, pulling, breaking).

But...I've started wearing lots of jewelry again this past year. I now have a collection of gold/silver/copper/bead/gemstone jewelry and enjoy mixing and matching, stacking. An obsession this past year has been the flatware jewelry and also brooches. I put brooches on coats, shirts, sweaters, purses and hats. So fun!

I look for pieces when on our trips or going to local artisan fairs in Calgary or here in town (Okotoks).

It's even more fun now b/c I started designing and making my own necklaces/bracelets. I won't ever get into silver smith work but I am really enjoying working with wood/metal/glass beads and gems. I have lived here a year and just discovered that we have our own artisan indoor market. I'll decide later this year if I want to start selling there or not. Her lease fees are cheaper than doing a few Calgary markets a year and I don't have to be there. She sells everything and takes a fee. I'm not sure if I'll get that involved, I might just make for myself and friends.

What about you? Wear any? What are your fave pieces? Do you wear minimal or chunky jewelry? Do you stack rings and/or bracelets?

Here's a few rings I'm wearing today. I stacked 3 on my middle finger and singles on the other two.

Your rings are beautiful!

I'm not one for jewelry other than my wedding band and a necklace with my boys' initials that my boys gave to me last Mother's Day. Probably much the same reason you gave, getting in the way of dog play, and catching on sweaters, etc.

Those are so pretty!

I don't wear much except earrings! And most of them time they are Disney earrings! I did pick up some Pokemon earrings in Japan last year, need to wear those still!

I do wear jewelry but I tend to wear the same thing forever. I've pretty much just had the same diamond stud earrings in my ears for years. And I forget to change my necklaces so I'll the same one for weeks until I notice. :giggle I do tend to wear very simple jewelry - like just a small gold chain with a little charm on it.

@bcgal00 Rae that is so fun that you've started making jewelry! I would love to see some of your pieces. I don't wear a ton of jewelry - I always have my wedding ring on but it's the only ring I own. I always wear earrings too, but I alternate between a few small hoops. I will occasionally wear a necklace, like Dawn I like simple chains with a small charm on it.

I wear the same necklace everyday. It's a mood stone on a wire choker. It's in that picture over there <-- lol. I have a couple of small hoop earrings and a small nose hoop that never come out. Most of the time I forget to put any other earrings in. I wear a lot of rings, sometimes on every finger. I have a hard time finding ones to fit my pinkies, though. They are almost all silver and my favorite is my big Lapis stone. I also have a big turqoise. The rest are mostly chunky silver, except my wedding ring that mixed metal. I stack it with a ring that used to belong to my MIL.

Hardly ever these days.

I wore earrings for many years having gotten my ears pierced in 7th grade. But in the last 15 years I was having trouble with a lump in my ear lobe so I stopped wearing earrings. The hole grew shut. Several years later when the lump was gone I had the ear pierced again. The lump eventually came back so I had to stop wearing earrings again. The hole grew shut again so now I just have some clip on earrings I can wear if needed.

As a teenage I had a cross necklace and I wore all the time for many years. The very fine chain eventually broke (but I didn't lose the cross). I was going to get a new chain but never did. I do have the cross tucked away in a safe place for sentimental reasons.

I have some special rings that I will pull out for special occasions. One is my mother's engagement diamond along with her mother's engagement diamond that I had made into a ring for me.

These days I have trouble with the regular clasps on necklaces so it makes it very hard for me to get them on or off so I gave up on necklaces. I've never been big on bracelets. And, after wearing watches for many years, I have found that I can't wear them anymore either. They always lose or gain time no matter how good/expensive a watch I have.

Only my wedding ring, and only when I leave the house. I'm a jeans off, rings off when I walk in the door kinda person. I never even notice my ring when I'm out of the house, but something about being home I suddenly feel it on my finger and find it as uncomfy as jeans, and being at home calls for ultra comfort! lol

Don't get me started on charms! I have started buying up charms for bracelets and necklaces. I love the selection available in the stores now.

I'll take a photo tomorrow and will tag you here in this thread so you see it. I've given many away as gifts but still have some that I'm wearing. I'll snap a pic of a few tomorrow.

I wear lots of rings on every finger but never my pinkie. I just recently started wearing rings on my thumb. That felt weird at first LOL. I love your mood stone choker!

How nice to have those special rings to wear occasionally. My ear holes had only partially closed up after many years so I was able to poke thru the back and now have double studs in each ear. I don't wear anything that dangles b/c of playing with the dogs.

I'm like that with my "extras". I have a few rings I always wear (wedding ring, my mom's family ring and a ring from Bailey) but the others come off when at home, along with any bracelets or necklaces.

For 55 years, my wedding band has never left my hand, and for over 60 years, I’ve enjoyed wearing my grandmother’s birthstone ring. Every day, I also wear a pretty diamond necklace, a treasured gift from my husband. When I was working, I loved accessorizing with jewelry, especially brooches (inherited from my mom and other relatives) and pins, though they’ve fallen out of fashion. Even so, I still enjoy wearing brooches on my jean jacket, keeping a bit of that tradition alive.

I have a lot of jewelry, but I hardly ever wear any of it. When I want to be fancy, I wear the earrings my daughter gave me to wear for her wedding. I like long necklaces with big pendants if I'm going to wear one.

Love the nails and rings Rae.
Like Kendra, my watch and ring get discarded when I walk in the door. But I do wear them out.
For now I have diamond studs in my ears. My cats don't react to danglys and sometimes I wear some. Most of the time I have a set in and they stay in for months.

I love your pretty rings! The only ring I wear is my wedding ring. I used to make a TON of jewelry too. I still have a zillion beads in my craft room and every once in awhile I'll go down there and make something new. I prefer stretchy bracelets these days with tiny beads so they don't hurt my wrist while working. (I'm on a computer all day and my mouse hand is the one I wear bracelets on since my watch is on the other hand.

I really need to get my one ear re-pierced. I have no idea how, but after decades one ear hole closed up and I can't get an earring through it. I really miss being able to wear earrings, especially on the rare occasion I want to dress up.
