Kim also hosts a monthly designer challenge and February is all about Colorful Clean & Simple!

I love learning about designers so here's a little Q&A for you to get to know Kim (and a photo too!).

How did you get started as a designer?
I sort of stumbled into designing. In 2002 I began creating fun web pages to share photos of my kids with family and friends. A year later someone pointed me to a digital scrapbooking site that they said reminded them of my pages, and I was hooked! I later joined another community site, applied to be on their team (so I could play with all of the beautiful sponsor kits), and started designing kit pieces for the collaborations they gave away to their members. They opened a sister store and I began selling there in 2006. TLP became my new design home in February 2012.
What's your creative process for coming up with new product ideas?
How I come up with new products varies a lot. Sometimes it’s just by playing with color and seeing where that takes me. Other times a texture or everyday object will speak to me. In rare cases I will start with a theme and go from there.
Do you have a current favorite product you’ve created?
That’s a hard one to answer. If I had to choose, I’d probably say my Debossed Date Tag series. I love seeing them pop up on such a wide variety of pages.

Where do you call home?
I grew up in Illinois but have lived in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas since 1990, and in my current home for the past 29 years.
What do you like to do to relax and take time for yourself?
My downtime lately is mostly watching TV shows or YouTube while playing games on my phone. I most recently binged Felicity. Before that were One Tree Hill, Somebody Somewhere, and the final season of The Crown. A while before that was How to Get Away with Murder; that was an intense one to get through. LOL I’m open to suggestions for my next series or movie, preferably something fun and lighthearted.
The games in my rotation right now are Spider solitaire, Killer Sudoku, Merge Mansion, and Project Makeover.
What is the busiest time of year for you as a designer?
I tend to go in spurts that don’t really follow a time of year. It just depends on what else is happening in my life and how much time and mental energy I’m able to devote to being creative.
Are you ready for the fun scrappy part? Kim is celebrating 12 years at The Lilypad, so if you create a new page with (mostly) Kim Jensen Designs and post it in her gallery and this thread by February 29, 2024, you'll be entered to win one of five $12 coupons to her shop! Woot! Go check out her store and see what catches your eye, or if you already own some of her goodies, pull them out and enter to win!
Please make sure you meet the TLP gallery guidelines of at least 50% TLP product.
Post your completed page in Kim Jensen's designer gallery
and then come back here and share in this thread!
Be sure to check out our LOVE Our Designers event daily since you never know WHO is going to be featured when! And who knows, the designer(s) may pop in here and there with special surprises and interactions while we are scrapping!!!
