Okay, TODAY is my last day here before the movers come, and I have to work on gathering those things we will need to NOT pack - you know, things we will need over the next few days (clothes, etc.). We will need things for the next few days while they are packing, as well as for spending one night in the totally empty new house until they come to start unpacking for us.

Help me thing of things I will need to keep handy... I want to try to remember everything, but right now my brain is misfiring.

    I already have:

    *shower supplies & toiletries
    * bath towels
    * blow-up bed for the kids, sheets to go with it
    * blankets, pillows, stuffed animals and a FEW toys

    Help me PLEEEEASE :helpy
thank you girls!! i need all the clear-thinking i can get right now!

Let's see...an alarm clock, phone, prescription meds, cash for mover tips & incidentals

Best of luck with the move! I'm sure everything will go smoothly.

Uh. I remember when we moved my mom had toilet paper very handy. It may have been in the house before a box. So that. And good luck!!

Ha ha! I was going to say toilet paper too! And light bulbs (having once moved into a house where the previous owner had taken all the light bulbs with them...) Being British I would also say a kettle, tea bags and mugs :)

I hope the move goes smoothly for you!

How about a DVD player and a few DVDs to distract the kids. It's such a hassle moving with kids. You have my sympathies.

If your new house won't have any window coverings up when you arrive, I've always liked having something to put up mid-move, at least for in the evenings and overnight. We once resorted to putting up a couple of opened out garbage bags for the first night, not so classy but definitely a little peace of mind. Fingers crossed it all goes well and is as stress free as possible for you.

kate, i've never used a kettle in my life, nor do i own one. but tea... YES. for sure.
karen - i'll have to had the 'usuals' to my list :giggle

well i have the kids' school records, and our medical records are being pulled together for me to take with us.
i am now off to clean out the garage so we don't end up relocating a bunch of random toys that are really more junk than keepers.

Important documents, check books, unpaid bills, etc...
Chargers for the electronics you will be using in transit
Hammer and screwdriver (to take out nails and such in the walls of the old house)
    Toys for the kids

That's all I can think of right now. Good luck with everything!

Okay, don't shoot me... but if it's hot tea, i microwave the water. Mostly I use a tea brewer and then chill it to make iced tea.
I do realize that this is a total disgrace to English tea... :sorry

As for the packing, they are probably 95% done - a few pictures still hanging on the wall, and a few random bits left in the garage. They are done for the night. They'll be back tomorrow to finish up and load the truck. It's going really great so far!!

They have packed every last pot, pan, and scrap of food in the house, so we are going to have to go out to eat tonight. Off to dinner...
