Welcome to our 11th edition of our Month of Challenges yearly event! While we've had a successful run with MOC, after 10 years we felt like it was time to adjust and refresh, and focus on what matters most to all of us - our pages. But true to tradition, I'm here with our first challenge of the event, the Blind Scrap. Using the instructions provided below, you will "blindly" scrap your page without seeing my sample page. Once MOC is over, I will then post my page, and we can see how everyone interpreted the instructions in comparison to my page. It's a lot of fun for me to see how different everyone's pages turn out based on the same set of basic instructions!

I tend to be a "why" person; I need to understand the motivation behind doing things. Why do you do this, or why do you do that? And big question for all of us is "Why do you scrap?" There are a lot of possible answers this question: I scrap to preserve memories. I scrap as a creative outlet. I scrap because I need something to spend my money on. But truly, if nothing else, the most basic response to that question should be "I scrap because it brings me joy." Really, this should be the heart of almost any "why do you" question. Because if it doesn't bring you at least a little bit of joy, you shouldn't be doing it. So the heart of my challenge today is "Finding Joy."

Your page for today's challenge must include:
  • One or more photos of a thing or things that bring you joy. Examples might be people, objects, or places.
  • At least two different papers; these can be solids or patterns.
  • At least three elements representing nature - Examples include flowers, leaves, branches, birds, butterflies, etc.
  • At least one string or ribbon.
  • At least one fastener - examples include tape, buttons, staples, pins, grommets, brads, paperclips, etc.
  • At least one paint or brush stroke.
  • Some amount of journaling (the amount is up to you) about why your item or items bring you joy.
You may include other items on your page, but you must have everything from the above list. You may scrap your page in any style you wish. In the end, I want your final page to bring you joy as well! My sample page will be posted at the end of MOC.

In addition to the specific instructions above, your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places:
  1. Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (not an outside hosting site).
  2. Posted in your page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder. You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean.
  3. Posted in this thread. People can comment here if they wish.
Your page must contain Lilypad product (pages with photos and font only do not count). Product from other stores will not be allowed for MOC; your pages must contain 100% Lilypad product (current or retired product from designers or guest designers presently selling at The Lilypad).

Thanks for playing along - I hope the new year brings you joy!
