Good evening everyone! I'm going to be starting a speed scrap chat in about 10 minutes. I will also be posting all of the steps here as I add them in the chat. I hope you can join us! ----------- Please post your completed layout in The Lilypad gallery. GALLERY RULES: Layouts must contain at least 50% TLP products. (Templates count as 15%.) Uploads must be less than 250k. List all credits; no off-site linking allowed. ----------- STEPS: ONE – Create a pile of at least 10 paper strips. The paper strips all must touch one edge of your layout and the paper strips should overlap each other slightly. You can use any size of paper strips, as long as I can see 10 of them in the pile. I used 20! TWO – You may add as many photos as you’d like. You can even make this a photo less layout, but if you use photos, at least one photo must be tucked partially underneath at least one of your paper strips. THREE – You may use any background paper that you like, but a mostly solid paper would help keep the focus on your paper strips. FOUR – Tuck at least two elements partially under other paper strips and add least five other elements anywhere on your layout. FIVE – Add one additional piece of paper with some journaling on it. SIX – Add at least one brush or paint splatter on your background and peeking out from the edge of your paper strips. SEVEN –For the finishing touch on this page, I’d like you to spend some time on the shadows, but especially on the layers of paper strips. Add some variations to the distance and size of your shadows, so they look more natural. For instance, make the layers on top with a slightly larger drop shadow and do the same for the paper strips that have thicker elements tucked underneath them. The layers on the bottom of the stack would have a smaller drop shadow. I just want to see some variation. You could also apply a wave or warp to a few of the layers to add even more interest. Your finished pages must be posted by 9:00 pm ET tomorrow night, August 11th. Please post your layouts in the Speed Scraps Gallery and then also post them here so I can make sure to get you your prize for playing along. ETA: Here's my layout:
Here's a fun thread about warping shadows with a little freebie if anyone is interested: https://the-lilypad.com/forum/threa...rom-fiddle-dee-dee-designs.43971/#post-762658
@Karen I missed the chat due to the time difference, but I love the challenge so I wanted to join. Do all strips need to have the same orientation or point in the same direction? I now have all strips in 1 corner but half are vertical and half are horizontal. Just wanted to make sure that was ok
Beautiful layouts so far dear ladies. Karen dear, thank you so much for the instructions, I really loved how it turned out my page, and thanks everyone for the nice and fun chat. Here's my take, full credits in gallery. Nice weekend everyone!
Karen, I made a JC with paper and paint from AC 54.. I hope that is ok as step 5.. Thanks for the fun scrap!!!
Thank you for the fun instructions! I hope I got them right. I warped the shadows of some of the paper strips as well. Hopefully it's obvious to the eyes.
