I wanted to open a thread for inspiration - anything people want to show off from their galleries, ideas to share or images to post that relate to the Language Arts theme or the sale products theme (Alphas, Fonts, Papers, Actions and Styles) I'll kick off with revisiting a beautiful tutorial by Judie @HeyJude from our blog from 2020 about ghosted titles. I love the understated yet bold title. What a clever technique to use alphas!
One of my favorite alphas is Paula's White Alpha 3D alpha! And Rachel Jefferies has AMAZING alphas for Art Journaling! Utterly and Completely alpha
Is this maybe something for this thread? Here I made a photo mat out of fonts. I used a font called KG Geronimo Blocks and wrote my name. Then I used another chunky alphabet and wrote an exclamation mark. Both fonts are free to download at dafont, but of course, any fonts can be used. When I got the size I wanted, I simplified the layers, merged the name into one layer, then placed the name above the exclamation mark, and finally clipped my photo onto the layers.
Here is mine.. I love to make reflective title and then use a gradient of Black to transparent to fade the reflective one... You can do this with fonts and your favorite Alphas too... if you are doing this with a fav alpha, just group the letters duplicate and then merge the duplicate so it is on one layer then flip and lower opacity or fill a bit and then apply the black to transparent gradient... just real fun to play with alphas and fonts!!
My tip for the day is about learning to manage fonts like other layers in your composition. If your page is realistic, so too should your font be realistic by blending it into the texture of the layer it's upon. I'm pointing out this much discussed topic from a notable and often quoted tutorial from our blog by former Polly and forever friend @AnneofAlamo who famously said "Friends Don’t Let Friend’s Fonts Float!" Go check it out HERE - it's from 2013, so some of the links are old, but you'll see what she's talking about and can get an idea for your own pages. Have a great day!!
Krista- also in another thread that Anne wrote for the "No Font Float" in the learning pad, I posted the style for the No Fonts Float that I made, especially for PSE11 users (and above) as they don't have that split option in PSE for blending... I use it a lot on papers too.. it really is awesome. Style is linked at the bottom
That tutorial was and is my holy grail, @AnneofAlamo is the best! I use this on EVERY SINGLE layout I make....
I'm loving these ideas! I've used the Floating Font a few times so I won't forget. It's a lot easier than what I've gone through to blend fonts into papers.
I am glad you like the no font float style to blend papers.. When I made it, I use it for everything You are right.. it really works great on blending papers together
