Any Bond fans out there!?! Am I the only one that loves these kitschy unrealistic films? and I do realize their depiction of women in most of them is just terrible. Regardless I don’t know what it is but I can watch all of them over and over again. Really not sure if we will venture out to the theaters to see the new one though. Probably going to be a dvd thing for us. Going to the movies has seemed to have lost its appeal to us with the way things are right now. But I digress.

    Who is your favorite Bond?!
    Your favorite Bond movie(s)?
And who do you think should take over for Daniel Craig as Bond?

My fave Bond actors in descending order: Connery, Pierce (probably because I crushed on him hard in Remington Steele),Craig (I love his broody Bond), Moore, Dalton.

My favorite Bond movies are: Live and Let Die (my hubbies least favorite), Casino Royale, Goldeneye, Quantum of Solace, and Diamonds are Forever.

I personally feel Idris Alba would be the perfect Bond, but I know he is probably out because of his age. Trying to think of younger actors at the moment but can’t think of any right now. Although Matthew Lewis who played Neville Longbottom might be a good fit.

Oh, as "un-gentlemanly" as he was, definitely Sean Connery! He was THE only Bond for me. I have to admit that I do like Daniel Craig, though. I wasn't prepared to accept him as Bond, but he won me over. We don't go to the theater at all, so we won't be going to the new show. We quit going to the theaters before covid so we definitely won't be going now.

Sean Connery and Roger Moore for me. I actually prefer the older movies to the newer ones. I haven't seen all the new ones unless they've been on TV and I had time to watch. There was a time when the TBS station would run Bond movie marathons, quite often over New Year's as an alternative to all the college bowl games played during that 2 or 3 day period. I would plop down on the couch, turn it on and get out my counted cross stitching and spend the day that way. This would have been before the internet was even around.

Back in 1971, my family went on a last minute trip to Florida over Christmas. My grandmother had died at Thanksgiving and my cousin was playing in a football bowl game in Orlando a couple days after Christmas. So with about 2 weeks planning we ended up driving down to see the game instead of trying to get through Christmas without Grandma. WDW had only been open a couple months so we went there one day. Spent Christmas Day visiting some orange groves. And, one night my dad took my cousin (she's 15 months older than me) and I to a movie... Diamonds are Forever. It has always been a favorite since then!

I was very disappointed when they gave the role to Daniel Craig as well. But he did a great job with the part.

Thats quite alright. I first saw them on television growing up because my dad would put them on. Really started watching them with my husband. I know there were quite a few of them on HBOmax last month. Not sure if they are still playing them.

I'm a Daniel Craig fan! At first I couldn't see it but he won me over by the end of Casino Royal.

My husband is a fan of Bond movies, and we saw them all. Quite a few times, actually, and at some point I started to like them too. Sean Connery was my favorite, my husbands too, but now I love Daniel Craig.

It's been a really long time since I've seen a Bond movie, but I did like watching them as a kid because my Dad liked them.

I used to watch the Sean Connery and Roger Moore ones as a kid, and I enjoyed them. (I'm sure all of the innuendo went right over my head. :giggle) I've loved Sean Connery in pretty much everything I've ever seen him in. I don't think I've seen any of the other Bonds. I will occasionally watch an action movie with DH, but they aren't really my vibe in general unless they are also funny.

When I worked at Ericsson they made a big deal over their product placement in Tomorrow Never Dies. We all got free t-shirts! I still didn't see the movie though. LOL

We are absolutely going to see this in the theater. There is no better place to see Bond, at least for the first showing.

    Who is your favorite Bond?!
There isn't just one. I think for pure gorgeousness: Pierce Brosnan. For pretty much everything else: Sean Connery. Now. Daniel Craig comes next and I've thought a lot about it and why. A lot of people don't like Daniel Craig, but I have to say that he is the most realistic portrayal of a character of his sort. His broodiness is important. He has lived many years killing people, being hunted, shot, nearly killed, and has lost loved ones due to his life. He SHOULD be more broody and introspective. He is the PERFECT person to play a slightly broken, older Bond. He's seen a lot. You can see it in his eyes. All the other Bonds don't seem to have their past affect them.

    Your favorite Bond movie(s)?
"Diamonds are Forever" and "Tomorrow Never Dies"

And who do you think should take over for Daniel Craig as Bond? Matthew Lewis has the more pretty boy look of Pierce Brosnan, but I can't see him being ruthless and kick ass. Interesting choice! I don't really have a person in mind to take over, but I do NOT want them to turn Bond into a woman. If they want a woman in the franchise, make a 008, make her awesome and a bad ass - but don't change James Bond.

    @Pachimac

You've definitely got a point about Bond now being a character with broodiness.

I also look at the movies themselves. The early movies, especially Sean's were more fantasy type with with I feel unrealistic scenarios (Moonraker, anyone?). But the later movies actually get into scenarios of things that really could happen in this world we live in. More what I consider "dark" foreboding movies. The early movies were not dark or foreboding IMO. Roger carried on in the same vein but I feel it started changing during the Dalton/Brosnan era.

And, we can't forget George Lazenby who starred in one film in the middle of the Connery era. "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" where Bond got married and was widowed before the honeymoon ever got started.
