It's national twinkie day... who knew! I haven't had a twinkie in several years, but I loved them as a kid. Our neighbor drove a Hostess delivery truck so we would get overstock from him... YUM!

How about you, have you ever eaten a twinkie? Did you like it?

I used to love them (although I didn't buy them often), but I don't like the "new" version under the "new" (2013) owner ... they just don't taste the same to me.

I didn't think about them tasting different under the new owner. I guess I haven't had one of those.

Oh my gosh, I cannot buy the Banana Twinkies anymore. My younger guy, Jamie, cannot control himself! I don't eat them. I do like the orange cupcakes though!

My husband saw on David Letterman where he took a can of whipped cream, stuck it in the twinkie and filled it up until it exploded. Of course, he had to go out and try it. There was a Hostess seconds store near us and all they had was the "low fat" ones (yeah, I know). He tried it and it didn't work because it wasn't the full fat one.

I used to love them as a kid because they were an extra special treat (my mom made everything from scratch to save money). Now I wouldn't eat them if I could!

As a kid, yes! It’s been years and years since Ive had one though. Not sure if my kids have ever tasted them though? I don’t think I even knew they were still available in stores ... we don’t really buy that stuff.

I wonder if they're only sold in the United States.

I think they're fun but not my favorite. I bought some recently because my kids didn't remember what they were. I prefer them frozen!

I used to love twinkies as a kid/teen. I wonder how they would taste now. Wonder if their recipe has changed or if my taste buds have changed....I'm guessing both. Nowadays my mouth waters for a cruller or fritter which I only eat occasionally so when I do its a really nice treat, that's my adult version of a twinkie :)

It's funny how our taste buds change as we get older, or maybe it's that we actually care about what we eat now that our health and weight have come into play more.

Like most everyone else, I haven't had one in years. Seems like last time I tried one it just didn't taste the same as I remembered :(
