I'm in the process of finishing up some cube steak and gravy in the crock pot, so of course everyone has requested mashed potatoes to go with it. It used to be that my family would eat nothing but instant. These days they are all about the homemade, which I much prefer, BUT I absolutely hate peeling potatoes. It is the cooking thing that I despise more than anything. Sometimes I can get DH or DS to do it for me, but they scattered today. I wouldn't mind leaving the skins on, but I'm the only one. Soooo, that got me to wondering....is there something related to cooking that you really don't like doing??
^^^^ this, I’m not a confident cook yet so right now everything scares me apart from grocery shopping. I’m sure as I cook more I’ll feel more comfortable and confident
The more you pull it, the smaller the pieces. I really do love it so much! Walmart has it HERE. I think there are similar ones around that might be even cheaper.
Even though I have continually admitted I am not my family's cook, I want this! I wish I had a holiday coming up to give this to my husband...maybe I could make up a holiday? Anyway, thanks @Dalis fot asking about it because now I have a gift idea for my DH.
I don't much like cleaning up afterwards, because I always seem to use so many utensils, even to cook te simplest things. I am not fond of cooking fish either, it can get dry so easily. Side track joke- Sort of.... Yesterday I was going to do a Chickpea salad. Soaked the chickpeas the night before, had the garlic , parsley, onion, olive oil mix ready, popped the chickpeas in a pot, and went to watch My kitchen Rules Australia. I love this program ,checked on the pot, they needed 5 min more. On TV she was making a warm chickpea salad, I never had this so I was looking for a great idea....35 min later, she was ready.... I noticed a burnt smell.....Any one for charcoal chickpeas ? As a matter of interest (- maybe- ) baking powder is great for getting a burnt pot clean if you are out of bicarbonate...
I like cooking in general. I'm not a fan of cleaning the cast iron pan. Sure, it does amazing things when you cook with it. But it's a pain to clean. Also, lunch. I really don't like doing lunch. Leftovers never reheat quite the same, and I hate coming up with new ideas.
Oh, I though of an actual cooking thing I dislike. I really don't like frying foods. It's unfortunate, because I like eating fried foods. But I hate dealing with the vast amount of oil afterward. May I start a second line of questioning in this thread? How do you dispose of your cooking oil after frying food?
I love fresh minced garlic but hate using the press and cleaning the skins out of there. But I do it because -> fresh garlic. I have the Pampered Chef garlic press and it is the bomb, probably may favorite tool of theirs.
