Thanks Jan for the challenge. Here is mine I did mine in Artisan 5 so I did a wash with my 3 colors and Tristan is black and white.
It took me three tries on three different pictures to get something I was happy with. A perfect technique challenge! *I used Dark Red, Red, Green, Beige, and Grey.
I was so excited to see this challenge yesterday morning, but off to church and the day I had to go... When I got back to it late in the day I figured it was going to be a snap as I patted myself on the back... I actually fully understood the directions, and so many people had so many issues all resolved, which was totally impressive... thus I was totally blindsided to find myself unable to select the individual squares... I KNEW how that tool worked... use it all the time, but it was selecting the whole page...even though my lines were clearly there... finally started working backwards... NO idea how many hours before I discovered that the check mark for preserve transparency needs to be turned off, when filling the lines... my default is checked... I don't think this was mentioned anyplace... just one of those tiny things that has to be right! anyway, then I was able to move on... was really late when I finished and I wasn't sure which version I preferred so I waited till this morning to make up my mind and post... I used green, red gold and purple for my colors...
Finally using an effect and a wordaround in PSE, I did it. It isn't perfect but it is there. The colors are pink, brown, grey and black and white. the last 2 colors are left side lower and center square. After 2 days, I figured I would leave well enough alone. I used NBK art Crush 22
Well ... I guess it is good to learn something new. I'm not particularly happy with how this turned out. Maybe I used the wrong photo or I just didn't quite do the technique right .... I may try this again later, but for now I have a page completed.
Awesome. I figured it out in. Affinity Photo on my iPad. So fun to learn something new. Now to finish the page.
I was able to do it in Affinity on my iPad. Created a grid by duplicating boxes. Gave a white outline to each box and set the blend mode to multiply. Then highlight the boxes you want to color and change the color.
Thanks for the tutorial on a new technique - love learning new things! Adjusted colors: Blue, red and green
I always look forward to your technique challenges and this one was no exception. I look forward to trying this again with a more graphic photo but this was the best I could come up with for the album I am currently working on. I'm happy with it none the less. Thanks again for the fun challenge:
Here's my attempt at this challenge...LOL! I can't say I like the overall look of this LO, but it's done! I used the colors red, green, & yellow.
The hardest part with this challenge was deciding where to put the white squares Fun challenge! thank you colors: lavender, yellow, green
I *KNEW* I'd see inspiration in this thread that would make me glad to know this technique! I am so happy to feel at home in a place brewing with SO.MANY. creative people. What I'm taking away thus far... I personally am drawn to more that are black and white photos, and where the colorizing is more thoughtfully placed, and/or blend modes make it not quite as drastic as my page. I think it will make an excellent travel book cover, or other album type cover. Such a great thing to know, or to have brewing in my brain! Thanks again, Jan!
January 5 Grid Photo This was fairly simple though a little labor intensive to create in Affinity on the iPad. Really glad to have this challenge, I learned a few tricks. My colors were red, green and gold.
