Hello & Happy May! I love this time of year - spring is starting to really get underway in New England and I am finally able to get outside more and really enjoy the warmer days and nature's renewal. And I LOVE documenting this time of year in my gardens with macro photography. I just love the look of these images and every May I try to take a new macro flower/plant/nature photo each day! This year is no exception, and I'm looking forward to participating in a "Macro May" photo challenge once again. So your photography challenge this month is to pull out your camera and practice your macro or close up photography skills. Then scrap your new photo! The subject of your photo doesn't matter - it doesn't have to be nature or flowers - just needs to be a macro image or close up photography image that shows the clear details of your subject. Here is my macro photo of some bleeding hearts that are blooming right now and my layout I created for the photo. I used Elif Sahin's Garden Party and Equinox kits to scrap it. I hope you have fun practicing your macro or close up photography skills and create a layout that you love with your new image! I can't wait to see what you capture and document. As always, please remember the regular monthly challenge rules: Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product. Your page should be posted to the Lilypad Gallery and then linked to the May Challenge Layouts thread so it can be tracked, and to this thread. The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month: 2 challenges = 10% off 4 challenges = 20% off 6 challenges = 30% off If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from the Lilypad! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges).
I love sunflowers and we were in Sanoma wine tasting at Imagery Winery and saw these. Didn't realize the bee was there until I edited.
thank you for the wonderful challenge, I love the abundance of flowers in May - and your layout is so very beautiful!
Spring always has me outside with my camera getting close-ups. In this layout the 3 bottom photos are close-ups and the larger one at the top a more distant view to put the others into perspective.
Just happens that a few days ago I posted layouts featuring close-up/macro photos! Bad timing. But never fear, there are always new flowers ready to pose. I ran this photo through iPad apps, Brushstroke, Waterlogue, and Superimpose. Placed the desaturated (& lowered opacity) version on top of the BG paper, then placed an unedited version on top, and using a reverse mask, painted out enough to leave the layout a blended flower. I plan to use this as a birthday card for my friend in whose garden this photo was shot. https://the-lilypad.com/forum/galleries/05-19-photochallenge_close-up_bebold.393905/
I love capturing the flowers along my walks with my dog. There is such a great variety in the neighborhood. This tree is in front of my apartment building.
