   1. • Hello and welcome to NBK Design's Technique Challenge at The Lily Pad!
      
      I am starting out with something fairly simple for my first challenge at The Lily Pad and I hope you all join in to try this method. Some of you may already know the THRESHOLD effect, if not I will show you how.
      
      I have some samples below to show you how easy it is, but first I will explain how to do this without loading some screen shots.
      
      Hopefully you have a photo of some trees, maybe on a beach with a bit of a horizon (trees are best to use in this challenge), like my “before” image. The next step is to go to Image>Adjustments>Threshold. The default level is usually set at 128. Move the slider to the left for less black or to the right for more black. When satisfied click OK.Save it as a JPG with a different name if you want to keep the original.
      
      
      Create your page using 100% NBK Design products but templates from other Lilypad designers are OK.
      Now place the Threshold image on top of your new page, and here is the magic, change the Blend Mode to DARKEN and now your background will show through. I have used NBK Design’s “Precious” for my Threshold challenge. Hope you enjoy this challenge and have fun doing it. A $5 Coupon will awarded to one lucky winner.
