Journal says:
Our Christmas journey returning from Minneapolis to Orcas Island was an adventure and tested our traveling abilities. In the midst of winter weather, our MN takeoff was only 20 minutes late and we decided to double check our connecting flight from SEA to Orcas Island - it had been CANCELED due to the snowfall! So we scurried to make alternate arrangements to shuttle from SEATAC to the ferry landing in Anacortes. Once we landed in Seattle our plane sat on the tarmac for 2 hours due to unmanned gates. Our aircraft was 5th in line to dock at the next available gate...needless to say we were starting to get a little stir-crazy. Once we disembarked, we rushed to baggage claim to retrieve our gate-checked carry ons in order to be ontime for our shuttle service. Understandably there was a massive delay with all the incoming flights and delivery to the correct baggage carousel. Unfortunately, we missed our shuttle by 15 minutes by the time we retrieved our baggage. Thankfully there were seats available on a later shuttle that will get us to the ferry landing just in the nick of time to catch the last ferry of the day. Upon arrival at the Anacortes ferry landing we discovered that a previous passenger took one of our suitcases! We were grateful for the shuttle driver to drive in the snow to make the switch and deliver our luggage before we loaded the ferry. What a journey!
