Journaling: "On my walk today, the wind was blowing and I could smell that "Fall Leaf" smell that brought me right back to childhood. That smell of piled up fallen leaves that you played in while you raked them up, or that smell before jumping into the huge pile you just made. It is so strange how something so minimal can drag you back in time.. back to a place where life was simple. I can remember Tammy and I building leaf houses in the front yard and how we would spend hours playing in the leaves. We would grab a pile of them and throw them up into the air to have them fall down upon our head. The colors were wonderful.. the golds, the browns, the reds, the oranges. Just a smell in the air and I was transported back in time. That is powerful. As children we do not realize what we do will impact us later on. It was wonderful this morning.. peaceful, serene, 60 degrees on December 5. It should be getting colder (and it will), but I got an added bonus of a few more memories of fall before it is completely gone. It was so nice to walk by, snap a photo of the fall foliage and watch the leaves fall."
