Description:
After seeing a layout about hand grating fresh coconut for a wonderful coconut cake (Thank you @flowersgal ) I remembered the cake my Nana used to make but with a bag of sweetened coconut. No need to hand grate! But then I thought of how much fresh coconut went into our food in Thailand. Much of it was bought freshly ground on demand in the market, but we also had one of these funny rabbits one could sit on and grate coconut on the sharp blade coming out of bunny’s mouth. Sadly I gave it away after my return to the US. I found this photo of an antique one at Artemis Gallery selling for $500+. I wonder who has mine!

Oh, my, Maureen - the grater is adorable. I love your explanation of how it works and such a fun decorative item too. I don't grate coconut (like your grandmother I now use the bags or cans from the grocery story) but I want one of these graters! Great layout with the framing, the colorful background paper and the little rabbit accent.

Never seen one like that before! How very cool. You must kick yourself a bit at letting go of yours ;-). Love how you scrapped and THAT you scrapped it!

What an interesting story! And a great grater! (LOL!) BTW... I made us a veggie curry for dinner tonight. No fresh coconut but I did include coconut oil to saute the veggies and a can of coconut milk...
