The kestrel is a bird of prey from the falcon family.
The kestrel lives mainly on small mammals, birds and insects such as mice, songbirds and beetles. Kestrels have extra cones in their retina so that they can not only distinguish the main colors (green, blue, red), but also ultraviolet colors. Urine traces of mice illuminate ultraviolet. Kestrels can therefore clearly detect where the mice were recently active. Once they have the mice in sight, they dive into it.
