Journaling:
I don’t remember thinking about clothes when I was a kid. In high school I developed a preference for jeans and t-shirts. And the less clothes the better. That’s why I was so happy to wear shorts in December. Of course, living in San Diego made that easy. But even back then I discovered sweatpants are the most comfy clothes, as shown in the second photo. Tank tops are another staple of my wardrobe. And I wear my clothes for a long time, until they get holes or I dislike them. The yellow tank in the 2007 photo is still in my cabinet, along with over a dozen others. I hardly needed a closet until I started my teaching job a couple of years ago. I have a cabinet with shelves and drawers for all my t-shirts, sweats, shorts, and jeans. It was fun finding these photos and seeing how most of the outfits I wore wore 2 decades ago I would wear today if I still had them. If I had to pick a favorite item of clothing right now it would be the blue tie dye hoodie I bought in Morro Bay on our road trip in 2021. I love that it’s the perfect amount of big without being sloppy, and that it reminds me of the beautiful coast of California without having words on it. My preferred brand of jeans for about a decade now are Gloria Vanderbilt. They just fit me well. I love shirts with clever words on them, but actually have mostly only had plain shirts. I just don’t like to shop; that’s why my wardrobe is small. I also don’t like to spend much time thinking about what to wear and don’t get excited about clothes. I spend only 5 minutes getting dressed each morning. And when I’m home to stay for the day, I’m wearing old loose comfy sweats, leggings, or knit shorts and tees. Right now my at home hoodie of choice is the old black Supernatural one I gave Indigo around 2017. It’s the biggest baggiest softest one I have. I will replace it eventually. Maybe even with something beautiful. I do have one unique feature of my wardrobe: Awesome Socks. I’ve subscribed to John & Hank Green’s club to support charities such as building a maternal hospital in Sierra Leone for a few years now, and in exchange, I get fun socks that are conversation starters. My favorite color to wear is blue.
Fabulous storytelling! The mix of photos is so fun paired with your journaling. I think we are similar - I don't like to spend a ton of time on what to wear! And sweats for the win!
