Hi, everyone! Sarah here with an update to my Weekend Mini Album post that I shared a couple of weeks ago. The May BYOC has been such a great collection to use for this project and I just love how the album turned out. Here is the (mostly) finished album. I love how fat it is and how much I was able to document in such a tiny book. Unfortunately, creating it wasn't without it's hiccups. When I got back home after our vacation and began transferring my photos I found that my SD card had become corrupted in the process and I lost about half of my photos. Fortunately, my sister in law had taken quite a few similar photos as me so I was able to use quite a few of her photos to supplement what I had managed to salvage.I haven't had a chance yet to stitch the binding, so it's still bound with a rubber band. I have to say I was impressed by how well this worked as I was … [Read more...]
Pocket Scrapping Out of Order: Tip 4 & 5
Hey scrappers, Polly Jewelle here! Today I have a two more tips in our pocket scrapping out of order series to share with you. Although I primarily do hybrid pocket scrapping I believe these tips can work with digital pocket scrapping as well. Let’s get started!Tip #4 Create a tracking systemDeciding to pocket scrap out of order can be freeing, but can also lead to a lot of confusion. Did I already document this week? Now what week were these dates? Those are just a few of the questions that can leave you confused when pocket scrapping. I used to spend a good chunk of my scrapping time trying to choose a week to document that wasn’t already done. Finally one day it occurred to me to print off a yearly calendar and mark off the weeks that I have documented in my pocket pages.I googled a yearly calendar and found the Calendar-365.com site that would allow me to print calendars from … [Read more...]

Polly Picks – Amanda
Every two weeks we ask one of our staff members to choose their favorite products in the shop. Then we put those products on sale! Our latest Polly Picks sale includes products chosen by the fabulous Amanda (MandayKay): Amanda (MandaKay) is another of our longtime Pollys, and one that I can happily say I've met in person. She is the sweetest person and a fantastic scrapper to boot. She is a girl after my own heart and refers to herself as a template queen. One stroll through her gallery and you'll see a perfect mix of clean pages with pops of color and happy photos of her adorable three girls and then a fun messy artsy page thrown in here and there for good measure too. I asked Amanda to describe her style, and this is what she had to say:“I have a hard time describing my scrapbooking “style”. I don’t know if I fit into one box. I guess … [Read more...]
The Slightly Mysterious World of M3 (Mixed Media Monthly)
I know you've all seen the Mixed Media Monthly kit and add-ons. I'm pretty sure you've probably wondered about what goes on in the Mixed Media forum. And I would hazard a guess that you may have even considered why you should make the leap from traditional scrapping to using mixed media supplies. I promise you, it really isn't scary. There seems to be a big imaginary division in those who scrap traditional pages, and those who play with mixed media. Of course there are those who straddle both sides of the fence as well, but it is sort of ironic to me because when I first started scrapping (and hoarding supplies) at the Lilypad, it seemed that pages here were a lot messier and less traditional. That is what drew me to the Pad. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with traditional pages. I love to scrap traditional style. I also love the clean and/or minimal look but, cannot for … [Read more...]
Using a Tool to Correct White Balance
Hi Happy Scrappers!Well, the weekend is almost here and it's likely that you may be taking some photos soon. You may notice that under certain circumstances, your photos end up being too "warm' or "cool" and look nothing like what you're seeing with your own eyes. Many times, this phenomenon is caused by your camera incorrectly calculating the "white balance" of the environment. Basically, white balance is the "temperature" of an image, commonly caused by the color cast of the light source. I notice that when I shoot a photo in my living room at night, our lights end up making photos look completely yellow. It's possibly to correct an incorrect white balance in post-processing using programs like Photoshop but there is an easier way to get it right the first time. Enter the white balance tool.I use a tool call the Expodisc. It's a super simple little disc that I snap onto … [Read more...]
