Hi guys! It's Polly Monica here with a fun and really simple hybrid project that you can use for your Thanksgiving dinner next week.I so admire a table being set with all the trimmings including individual place cards for everyone sitting around it to share a meal together. These place cards are really simple to make and they include a special sweet treat for all of your guests! To put these place cards together you will need square sized journaling cards (available in Memory Plan Monthly and Storyteller Collections), cardstock paper for printing, a paper trimmer, candy (I used Hershey Kisses and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups), toothpicks, and adhesives. The first thing I did when making these place cards was to pull in various square sized journaling cards from Just Jaimee's November 2016 Storyteller Collection. I then duplicated each of these and resized them to 2x2 … [Read more...]
Blending Papers
Hi everyone, it's Polly Rae here, and today I'm going to share with you my process of blending papers with blend modes. Often a paper has a pattern, color or texture I like but it doesn't quite mesh with my page design. I could use an adjustment layer to manipulate the colors but I prefer to try changing the color blend modes on my paper layer and often duplicate the layers, changing blend modes and opacity on each layer. For my sample page, here are the paper layers I will be using, along with the blend mode and opacity of each layer.I know how the blend modes affect my papers in a general sense and I'm happy with that. I don't need to know all the scientific and mathematical calculations, in the same sense as I know generally how my car works and what happens when I turn the key in the ignition and drive. I just need to know how to adjust and manipulate the modes to my … [Read more...]

Capturing the Details
Hi everyone! Polly Crystal here today to share some tips and photos, to hopefully encourage you all to capture the details of your everyday. I know we all love sweet smiling photos of our cutie kids and grand kids and nieces and nephews...etc. There is so much more to our story than those sweet faces though! So much more to THEIR story. Our lives are made up of little details of this and that. Regular things that we more than likely will not remember but will be so fun to look back on one day! When I look at the super old photos of distant relatives that my mother has I can't help but wish there was more than those faces. Little things that could help me to know them better and could help me to compare our personalities and things. Learning how to take photos of the details will help immensely with pocket scrapping as well when you are feeling a wee bit burnt out and wondering what to … [Read more...]
Thanksgiving Page Ideas
Hi, it's Polly Rae here, and I'm going to share with you some Thanksgiving page ideas that might inspire you in your page design.Thanksgiving is a North American annual national holiday and commemorates the harvest festival celebrated by the Pilgrims in 1621 and is held on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States. In Canada, the holiday for giving thanks for a good harvest is held on the second Monday in October. A traditional meal is usually ham or turkey. In my family, my mom's fave was ham and was served with scalloped potatoes. My fave is turkey as I love turkey with cranberry sauce and spoonfuls of flavorful dressing. Yum! I always take photos of the food served on Thanksgiving. My page shows the food we served that day and also shows some of my family sitting quietly in the kitchen, enjoying each other's company and the good food. The men usually sit in the … [Read more...]
