May Challenges

Hello everyone! It’s Polly Karen back again with a look at our new batch of monthly challenges for May. Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st day of the month. (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%). Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?! You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat gift certificate prize!!! Pretty great, right?! So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Template Challenge – The first Challenge for May is the Template Challenge hosted by Jenn (jk703). The challenge is to use the free template supplied by Rachel Jefferies and create a layout using it. Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample that Jenn created using it:
2. Scraplift Challenge – The next challenge for this month is the Scraplift Challenge hosted by Courtney (bestcee). Courtney has decided to play a game of scraplift tag this month. Simply go to the Scraplift Challenge thread and post “my spot” in that thread. Then go to the post directly above yours and pick a layout from that poster’s gallery to scraplift.
3. Inspiration Challenge – Ashley (ashleywb) is hosting this month’s Inspiration Challenge. She has introduced me to something new called Mixed Dimensions which is combining digital elements with the physical world by adding digital art into real life photography. Ashley posted some super cool samples of this type of art in the forum thread. Check out her great sample layout too:

4. Random Challenge – The Random Challenge for May is hosted by Kayla (keepscrappin) and she is challenging you to channel spring a bit into your layout by including at least 3 butterflies on your layout. Here’s a gorgeous sample layout created by Kayla:
5. Style Challenge – This month’s Style Challenge is being hosted by Heather (HeatherB). Heather is challenging you to create a layout with one photo that takes up at least half of your page. Here is an adorable layout that Heather created for this challenge:
6. Photography Challenge – The Photography Challenge for May is being hosted by Lori (lcpereyra). Lori is challenging you to take a photo walk this month and capture at least five different photos while on your walk of things that interest you. Then create a layout to feature those photos. Here’s a fabulous layout that Lori created from photos from her own photo walk:

7. Journaling Challenge – The next challenge is the Journaling Challenge hosted by Natasha (bcnatty). Natasha would like this month’s journaling layouts to include journaling about someone’s courage. She wants to see at least 5 full sentences of journaling on your page. Here is a great sample layout she created about her daughter’s courage:
8. BYOC Challenge – Finally we have the BYOC Challenge. This challenge will be hosted and posted by Christa (cfile) Friday, May 5th when the BYOC Collection for May will be released in the store. The challenge will be to use 90% of the products on your page from this month’s BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.
Challenge Galleries: (post your pages to these galleries)
There is your quick peek at this month’s brand new batch of challenges. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above. Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum. See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the May Challenge Pad HERE to get started! Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month. I’ll be back near the end of the month to shine my spotlight on some of the pages created for these challenges! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy scrapping!
