August Challenges

Hello everyone! It’s Polly Karen back again with a look at our new batch of monthly challenges for August. Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st day of the month. (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%). Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?! You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat gift certificate prize!!! Pretty great, right?! So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Random Challenge – The first challenge up for August is the Random Challenge which is being hosted by Stefanie (Eyeore). Stefanie is challenging you to creat a layout that incorporates a Sun on it. You can create a sun with paper pieces, or use a sunny paper or a sun element and/or she would like you to use the word Sun/Sunshine/Sunny on your layout. Here’s a warm sunny layout she created:
2. Style Challenge – The next challenge is the Style challenge hosted by Kayla (keepscrappin) and she would like you to create a layout that features a BIG title. She says “Go BIG or go home” Ha ha! Here’s a fabulous large title on Kayla’s sample layout:
3. Scraplift Challenge – The next challenge for this month is the Scraplift Challenge hosted by Natasha (bcnatty). Natasha is challenging you to look inside your very own gallery and find a layout you love and then scraplift yourself! Here is a layout that Natasha found in her gallery followed by her scraplifted version:
4. Template Challenge – The next challenge up for August is the Template Challenge hosted by Courtney (bestcee). The challenge is to use the free template supplied by Sara Gleason and create a layout using it. Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample that Courtney created using it:
5. Photography Challenge – Lori (lcpereyra) is hosting the Photography Challenge for August and she is challenging you to capture a photo in the evening. This could be an outside activity, and evening scene or an evening routine or just something during the hours of 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Here is a stunning photo that Lori captures and then added to her layout:
6. Inspiration Challenge – The Inspiration Challenge for August is so perfect for those of us in the summer months right now. Ashely (ashleywb) is challenging you to be inspired by ice cream treats. You don’t have to scrap about ice cream even, you could just be inspired by the fun colors of ice cream treats. Here’s a fun collage of ice cream treats, followed by a layout that Ashley created:
7. Journaling Challenge – The next challenge is the Journaling Challenge hosted by Heather (HeatherB). Heather is challenging you to create a layout with journaling (at least 5 sentences) about something that made a huge impact. This can be a moment in life that stands out or something really special in someone’s life. Heather chose to scrap about a big even in her son’s football life:
8. BYOC Challenge – Finally we have the BYOC Challenge. This challenge will be hosted and posted by Christa (cfile) on Friday, August 5th, when the BYOC Collection for August will be released in the store. The challenge will be to use 90% of the products on your page from this month’s BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.

There is your peek at this month’s brand new batch of challenges. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above. Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum. See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the August Challenge Pad HERE to get started! Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month.
