Make it Monday Clean and Simple Card

Polly Robin here for another Make It Monday and I’m going to show you how I made a clean and simple card. I was challenged to make a card with one patterned piece of paper and one embellishment. Honestly, I thought this would be a super easy challenge and then I realized that it wasn’t! Who would have guessed that clean and simple was hard? Let me show you what I came up with.
I decided that if I could only use one piece of paper, it had better have something in it I could fussy cut to use on my card. I went searching in my stash and realized that the papers from Kim Jensen’s Pieces of You papers would be perfect:

See that bold paper with the large flowers? That’s what I needed! I fussy cut one of those out and realized that I am not a fan of fussy cutting and don’t see myself doing to much of that in the future 🙂
I pulled out my white cardstock and made a 4. 25 x 5.5 inch landscape base. Then I cut some more white cardstock into two pieces. The first was 1.75 x 5.25 inches and the second was 1.25 inches x 5.25 inches. I also cut a strip of my patterned paper which was 1 x 5.25 inches and ended up with these:

Next, I stamped my sentiment on the smaller piece of paper and assembled my card. I glued all three pieces of paper (the two white ones and the one patterned one) on my card base. I then used a foam square to adhere my flower. I decided to position my flower exactly on top of where it would normally be in the patterned paper, thus making it look like it was coming out of the paper. I decided that 3 gems were needed and that all of them counted as one element since they were the same. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it ????
Anyway, here’s the finished card:

I can definitely say that it’s not one of my favorites, but I also can see where it’s good to stretch yourself every now and then ???? Thanks for stopping by the blog and hopefully you like this card. See y’all next month!
