Greetings, Happy Scrappers!
Polly Liana here today to introduce you to a whole bunch of products that are going to blow your mind. But first, a story:
A few weeks ago, I visited a very busy cafe/bakery with my two small daughters. We stood in line for a few minutes and placed our order. They said they’d call me over to come pick it up at the counter when it was ready. I found a table in the back of the cafe and seated my girls in a chair and high chair. Eventually, someone motioned to me that our food was ready. I left my daughters for a moment to get the food. As I approached the counter, an older gentleman stepped in front of me and picked up our plates, including my daughter’s glass of milk. Confused, I said, “Excuse me… I think that might be our…” He cut me off and said, “I know it’s yours. I was going to bring it to your table for you so you wouldn’t have to leave your children alone.”
What a class act, huh? He probably does this stuff all the time but it’s not like he wears a t-shirt that reads “I am a super kind human being.” You wouldn’t know just from looking at him that he’s a superstar– he’s just a regular guy doing awesome stuff. An “Unsung Hero,” if you will.
Today, I am going to introduce you to some products in our store that might also be regarded as Unsung Heroes. Products that don’t jump out at you in the store as anything extraordinary but when you open them up, they turn out to be really fantastic, helpful and awesome. I solicited some help from my fellow scrappers in the forums a few weeks ago and complied a really great list of products. I believe every one of our fabulous designers has been represented somewhere here so you can see the full range of what they’ve created. I’ve organized them by type and created links to the store, if you’re interested in looking at them more closely:
Papers:
These were recommended because of their boundless application to a variety of layouts. You really get bang for your buck with these!
Embellishments:
Again, the diversity of application is what stuck out with scrappers who chose these little goodies. You can use them again & again and they have a great range of colors, shapes and textures.
Alphas/Word Art:
Most of these were selected because they have several different versions of the alpha contained in one product. You can use an outline, filled image or a combination of them. It’s like having three or four alphas in one! (The Skinniness font was included because it is neat, easy to read and fits in tiny spaces because it’s so skinny!)
Templates/Project Life:
When you’re doing Project Life every week, you want products that you can use over and over again in many different ways. These products fit the bill!
Paint:
Whether you’re using the .png files or the brushes, these paint products will add the perfect accents to your layouts.
Styles/Brushes:
Personally, I think styles are some of the best Unsung Hero products out there. They work in the background but their impact makes or breaks a layout. From shadows to distressing, these styles have been recommended time and time again by experienced and new scrappers alike because of their ability to make layouts look believable and beautiful.
Stitches/Fasteners:
A great variety of terrific ways to stick things down and create accents for your focal points.
Misc:
These products didn’t really have a home under other categories but they are brilliant products that have an amazing amount of uses!
Every one of these products has been recommended because it has been a fantastic find for someone. These may look like simple, ordinary products but really they have thousands (if not millions) of possibilities. If they don’t look familiar, please check them out. One of the best ways to see the potential of these products is to do a search for them in our gallery and see the way other scrappers have used them in their layouts. Also important to note: Many of these products are just one of several versions. If you like something, be sure to check and see if there are other versions of it. Do you have any fabulous products that didn’t make the list? Please list them in the comments. Can’t wait to see your recommendations!
