Hello! Following on from discussing design styles for Beginners in my last post, I gave myself an informal challenge to produce 2 different style layouts using the same photos and same products, and seeing it's Monday and I like alliteration, well, here we are.Starting with a template my mindset was to make a minimal style page and then switch things up to make it more maximal, and because I mentioned that Artsy and Mixed media can work with either of those styles in that previous post, I purposely picked a kit with some artsy pieces and papers in it and a template that is simple enough that I could art-ify.Scrappers often gravitate to one particular style but there 's also a lot of scrappers that jump between styles as they feel and I'm one of those people. Maybe it's the kit, maybe it's the photos, maybe it's a challenge but something will pull me in one style direction and I … [Read more...]
Time Savers (for when you feel the need for speed).
Hey, so you know sometimes I spend a few days on a layout, even though it's digi. It's not like I'm waiting for glue or paint to dry, but given that it doesn't really take up physical space on my desk or in my house, I can leave projects open in Photoshop and come back and tweak things and add or subtract if it's not feeling right. I can shut my laptop and nobody knows the difference, but I've also had times where I think 'How can I be more productive?' Speed scrapping and MOC come to mind but also you know when there's an extra good photobook printing deal deadline approaching; well, then I'm almost a different scrapper. You know those tv shows where there's the Jiminy Cricket kind of good conscience on one shoulder and an opposing influence on the other? It can feel a bit like that, with my Jiminy Cricket saying 'you need more layers behind your photo', or 'adding some bent shadows … [Read more...]
Fab Dad Friday: Title Ideas
Happy Friday everyone! Sunday is Father's Day and I know as memory keepers we try to get all the people, places and stories happening in our lives documented and on the page. This doesn't leave a lot of time or brain power (lol) left to think up cool, funny, and/or interesting titles for our pages. Good thing I'm all about the words. So I'm here to share some fun ideas for titles and a quote or two that would be fun to add to our Father's Day pages this year or any year really.Let's talk titles first. There's lots of places to find inspiration these days and Google is just one of them. I perused the web and found a few fun title ideas like: The Man. The Myth. The Legend Worst Jokes. Best Dad. Thanks for your genes, I'm perfect! Dad to the Bone Daditude Brand New DaddyI also love checking out greeting cards and t-shirts for fun title ideas like these: The … [Read more...]
Throwback Thursday | Old to New
Hi friends. I'm here with a fun throwback Thursday post this week. MOC is going on in the forum right now and each day brings a new challenge. MOC Day 4 asked us to re-scrap an old layout of ours and if you haven't completed that one yet, then this post may be helpful right now.Of course, there are many reasons to re-do or revisit an older layout. Maybe your overall scrap style has changed and this would allow you to create the older layouts in your new style. Maybe there's some new products that fit the theme, mood, or photo more than when you first scrapped it (hello fellow digi-stash hoarders like myself lol). And then, maybe you just weren't quite happy with the old layout and re-doing it is the only thing that will ease your feeling you get when you look at it. (again, I'm raising my hand, lol)I went through my gallery here and found a super old layout that at the time I … [Read more...]
