We all know what it is like. Sometimes your creative mojo is lacking. You miss scrapbooking inspiration even when you really want to do some scrapping. Maybe you want to join a challenge. Or you want to play catch up on your yearbook. It happens to everyone, so today I'm going to help you to get back into your creative flow. The Spanish artist Matisse used to say: Inspiration has to find you working. And he was right. It doesn't work to wait around until inspiration magically reappears. You have to get to work, start scrapping. Prompt Cards are a good way to get back into the scrapbooking spirit. Prompts are like starting points for your creative ideas. They are also a great help when you want to go out of your comfort zone and scrap a little different from your normal approach.Prompt cards or inspiration cards are widely available for all kinds of situations. Thoughtful Thursday: Spring Storytelling Prompts
Hello! April is here and with the change of the calendar, we have also changed our season. For me, this means spring has sprung and that makes me very happy! I find that my motivation really lags as winter progresses and with the change in the season, I enthusiastically welcome the longer days, warming weather, awakening of the earth, and I find I have much more mojo to be present in my life. I want to take more photos and tell more stories about my daily life, even if it is mundane. There is beauty to be found all around, especially in the details of life and the world, and I want to be creative. So I've created some spring related prompts to help you you document your life in photos and words. I hope you are able to be inspired, be present this spring and enjoy this season! … [Read more...]
How to break the rules right!: Using same-sized photos on multi-photo pages
We all know that there aren't exactly hard and fast rules with scrapbook page design, (it is your page, you can create it however you wish because it is ultimately yours and as long as you are happy with it, that is the main thing), but there are some general principles that over the years I've learnt influence how a page reads and comes across to the viewer, so if there's something that feels slightly off about one of your pages, that you can't quite put your finger on, maybe it's got something to do with these principles, and whether you are following them or breaking them. But we also all know breaking rules isn't always a bad thing especially the creative rules! And as someone that has been a frequent visitor to the gallery for well over a decade now, I'm always drawn to pages that I feel break the unspoken rules and try to understand why they work when really, to me, they … [Read more...]
Thoughtful Thursday: Changing Seasons Photography Prompts
I love being out and about. When the weather permits I like to be in the garden. Going to the beach or the woods is also a favorite of mine. And I often take my camera with me because I really like to record the changing of the seasons. Looking through my photos there are some pictures, certain moments that keep coming back. Year, after year.Recording and photographing the seasonal changes is a habit for me. It comes quite naturally as my mother always used to write about the weather in our family calendar. She would write down weather events like when the first thunderstorm of the year was, the temperature on the first warm day of spring or make notes of the amount of rain we had on certain days. Her notes have inspired me to record the seasons changing with my camera. In our part of the world we have just welcomed spring. It is this time of year that I always take pictures of … [Read more...]
Thoughtful Thursday: Neighborhood Photography Prompts
Hello, guest polly Anja (frutselke) here with a new set of photograpy prompts. This month we are going to focus on our neighborhood. Photographing where you live is a good way to document about daily life. It can also be a fun way to create a time frame. And in the digital world we live in it is fun to see how other people live. Streets in Europe are not the same as streets in Australia or Canada. A mountain village has different characteristics than a city centre. These photography prompts help you to look for the details and focus on the little things that make your neighborhood unique.Of course, you see your street almost every day. You get used to the view. So when was the last time you really looked at the houses, the trees, the people? Go for a stroll and look for the quirks that are unique for your neighborhood. Sit in the front window and watch all that goes by. Take pictures … [Read more...]
