To some of us, there is nothing more nerve-wracking than attempting a scrapping style out of your comfort zone or more daunting than a blank canvas with infinite possibilities.(OK, yes, I’m talking about me personally but I’m sure this applies to others as well!)So in this blog series, I’m attempting to make Mixed Media less daunting by giving you (and me) some jumping off points. Where to begin with digi – mixed media scrapping? Right here for Mixed Media Beginners! Recap & IntroductionAs a template scrapper and mixed media beginner, in the last 2 blog posts in this series, I've used basic linear paint brush strokes and 'designer painted' papers to give easy and instant mixed media vibes to my layouts. This month, I'm building on those last 2 mixed media methods. I'm using watercolour style papers for an instant mixed media base and then adding some big … [Read more...]
Straw Rockets For The 4th
Hi there, it's Katrina, aka katrinahunt13, here to share a hybrid project that you can get the kids involved with. I know we have international pad members, but this coming Tuesday is the United States 4th of July, which means summer party! Summer parties, usually mean gatherings of kids too! What I am sharing today is a fun and safe way for the little ones to "shoot" fireworks also. And bonus, they don't need to wait until dark and they won't run out of things to shoot!I give you Straw Rockets!!! I will list the supply list below, but chances are you have everything already on hand! And the digital supplies from The Lilypad store are fun to use this way and can be adapted for any party or activity! For this project, I used Bella Gypsy's Rad, White and Blue collection. So the supplies you will need are a printer and regular printer paper (cardstock is too heavy for this), … [Read more...]
Hybrid Boo Banner with Bella Gypsy Designs
It's Katrina or kathunt13 giving you a fun and quick idea for a Halloween decoration that you and your kids could complete together. Did I mention quick?! I am a sucker for banners to decorate with. Plus I love to create them, so bonus! Have you seen the Halloween category in the store? There are LOTS of fun goodies in there on sale. I picked up the Bella Gypsy Wicked Cute Bundle to work with and I am in love with all the color, patterns and elements. We also have a fun Halloween Bash going on in the forum. You can find it HERE.So this was so simple to make. I actually used my Silhouette with the print and cut feature, along with pulling in patterns and filling shapes, but you can easily do this just printing out and cutting by hand. This took me about an hour to do and that includes figuring out what I wanted to use! This would be so cute on your front door, on a mantle … [Read more...]
Valentine Lunchbox
Valentine LunchboxToday we are going into another heart overload with a valentine lunchbox. My kids love that I take the extra time to include messages in their lunchboxes from time to time. When holidays like Valentine's Day come around, I tend to go over the top and include all sorts of fun surprises. This heart crazed lunchbox adventure started with a set of heart shaped cookie cutters I recently purchased, and Pinterest of course!Earlier this week I started small. I snuck in a little heart here and there, like the tiny heart cut out of the corner of the bread. Each day, they have opened their lunch to find a little valentine lunchbox surprise. We are nuts about cheese in our family, so the heart cheese with crackers were a hit!The apple sauce got a little makeover with an adorable tag attached to it. There is a personal message written on the back. While the kids … [Read more...]
Kid Friendly Craft Ideas
Let's talk about crafts! Today I'm going to share with you some craft ideas to keep the kids entertained during the summer months. I remember in my younger years being a happy camper when given the crayons, scissors, construction paper, and glue. The only thing else that was needed was my imagination. Fun times. Crafts have really come a long way since then. YOu can purchase subscription craft kids and have them delivered to your door every month. You can go to the craft store and load your cart with all sorts of pre-made craft kits. For as long as I can remember I have been a crafty type. You can imagine my excitement when my children were old enough to start crafting. Truth be told, they were crafting at a very young age. I am guilty of dipping their hands and feet into paint at various themed play dates with other mom friends. Yeah, I'm that mom! Both of my children enjoy crafting, … [Read more...]
Taco Spheres, anyone?
Hi everyone! Guest Polly Dalis here to report that kids do actually learn when they go out on a field trip to a Children's Museum. My daughter went to the local Children's Museum this week and was excited to give me and daddy a class on how to make 3D objects. I immediately thought this would be a cool thing to post here for you gals to do with your little ones. It is such an easy project and you could even print them of some cool pattern papers and make them into ornaments. That would be a cool idea! I grabbed my phone and snapped this picture (so sorry for the quality).I now present you Miss Bianca teaching her first ever class in how to create 3D objects. (She was super excited to be making a tutorial). NOTE: If you fall in love as hard as I did with these cool arrows they are from BYOC JAN 2009 - Which Way Arrows by Jacque. … [Read more...]
