Hi everyone, Sarah here and I’m so excited to share with you my latest hybrid project. Since it’s almost December I thought it’d be fun to create a gift box perfect for the littlest of presents.
For this project I used Santa’s Workshop by Sahlin Studio. I fell in love with the bright colorful elements included in this kit and knew it would be perfect.
I started with a matchbox. This particular one I cut out using my Silhouette Portrait, but you could always buy premade blank matchboxes from a craft store, or use this as an opportunity to reuse an actual matchbox once you’ve used all the matches. The first step is to wrap the outer sleeve of the matchbox with your favorite printed digi paper. Since I cut my matchbox out on the Silhouette I printed my patterned paper directly onto cardstock so that I could cut the outer sleeve of my matchbox from that.
Next I found this cute Santa graphic in the kit that I thought was such a fun image for the front of my gift box. After I printed and cut the Santa out I adhered it to the top of the box with a tape runner.
I love this little Merry Christmas banner so I printed it out just a little longer than the width of the box. Using my tape runner again I added adhesive to the banner making sure to get all the way to the very ends. Once I centered it on top I wrapped the excess to the sides of box.
The last step was to add a tag with a some bakers twine. I tied a simple knot in the hole at the top of the tree and then wrapped the twine around to the back side and taped it with some clear tape.
This project came together fairly easily just adding a small step each time from the original box. I hope this inspires you to make your own holiday gift wrapping from digi supplies. If you do make sure to upload in the Hybrid Projects gallery. I’d love to see them!
