Hello everyone – and welcome to what is known as “Black Friday” in the States! The day after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year here. The term “Black Friday” comes from the notion that it is the day that merchants turn an annual profit (going from being in the red to being in the black). Whether you are a person who shops all day on Friday, sits at home and shops online or waits for the madness and crowds to dissipate – you have a story to tell. Black Friday is the perfect day to toss around a few quick ideas for memorializing those holiday shopping excursions.
One of my favorite ways to scrap holiday shopping is to take a photo of my cart, filled to the brim with holiday goodness. Here is an example of this technique in action:
Here are some other ideas for scrapping your holiday shopping adventures:
- Scan your receipts and use them either as elements or to create a layered background (tip: edit out credit card and personal information).
- Grab a digital image of your shopping area from Google Maps or Mapquest, then use embellishments to chart your shopping adventure.
- Take photos of the check out lines and blend them into the background of your page.
- Take a photo of your car filled with all your shopping goodness.
- Take photos of all the amazing store displays and holiday decorations.
- Make a planner type page that documents the entire day from start to finish.
- Be sure to snag a shopping selfie or group shot with friends.
Whether you are a Black Friday junkie, or prefer to wait until the madness ends to do your holiday shopping – be sure to document it and tell your story! We always love to hear your ideas too, so please let us know what you do to document your holiday shopping excursions. :)
