Hi, everyone! Sarah here. As many of you know I’m a hybrid scrapbooker. I love taking the gorgeous papers, journal cards and embellishments that the wonderful digital designers at TLP create and print them out to create scrapbooking layouts and projects. Over the last few months I’ve been watching videos on YouTube highlighting several traditional scrapbooking kit companies. I’ve been thinking about how I can create something like this for myself, using a digital scrapbooking collection as the base. I love the idea of sitting down with a few pics and having all of my scrapbooking goodies ready to go. Today, I’m going to share with you my hybrid scrapbook kit.
I decided that the Memory Pockets Monthly Promise Collection and add ons would be a good place to start my printed collection.
I only have a letter sized printer so I began by printing several 8″x10″ pages of the solid papers included with the main kit.
I also printed several of the patterned papers that were included in the add ons in the same size.
Next I printed several 3″x4″ journal cards, both from the main kit and the add ons. I also used some of the elements available to create even more variety such as the floral and lace card top center as well as the YES And US circle stamped cards.
Here are a few 4″x6″ and 4″x4″ cards I printed as well.
I took a cue from Allison’s Plastic Pockets to create something a bit more sheer. I printed several of her 4″x6″ pockets on vellum. I loved the flowers so much I decided to print a full page of those using the patterned paper and resizing and repeating the pattern until I ended up with a size I was happy with.
Next I created a few sticker sheets. I picked out several of the labels and word strips included in the main kit and add ons and created a sticker sheet that just included those. I even resized a few of the labels to give me more variety when I sit down to scrap. Then I used Allison’s glitter alpha to create the fun glittery sticker sheet. After I print and cut the alpha I used a clear Wink of Stella glitter brush pen over the letters to add even more shimmer. Last I printed out one of the alpha sheets available in the main kit. I chose this particular alpha sheet since the other sheet was closer in color to the glitter alpha.
Finally I took some of the fun paper embellishments from the main kit and add ons and print and cut these as well. I love that I get to pick and choose the elements that I’m most likely to use as well as print each embellishment at a size that works best for the types of scrapbooking that I do.
You could definitely stop at this point and create with all of these wonderfully printed papers, journal cards and embellishments. However, I have a fair amount of traditional scrapbooking supplies and I decided I wanted to include a few of these in my projects. I began by pulling a few sheets of 12″x12″ white and kraft cardstock so that I can use them to create larger layouts. I also pulled a few coordinating card bases that I had prepped (I always keep a bin of card bases handy so I can throw together a card for any occasion quickly). For the embellishments, I took cues from the collection as much as possible. The large ampersand, cork pieces, buttons, enamel dots, and sequins were all included because there are similar items in the digital collection. I didn’t always have an exact match, but I worked with what I had, and am pretty pleased with the end product.
I have goals of what I’d like to try to get scrapped with this kit and will share my finished projects with you all in a couple of weeks. I’m really excited about just sitting down and scrapping and seeing what I can get done!
