Hi Pad Scrappers,
Polly Liana here, with the honor of sharing this month’s Mixed Media Monthly (“M3”) with you. I was all set to write this blog post today when word broke about the death of the musical artist Prince. I don’t know about you but his songs were like the soundtrack to my teenaged years. I felt like I had lost a family member, in some ways. I was torn up and bummed out, which often makes me want to do some scrap therapy. (Turns out, Sparkysgirl beat me to it with her beautiful tribute.)
As I prepared to write this post, I was taking a closer look at the new products for M3– they’re perfect for this kind of situation! For those of you who are new to the concept, Mixed Media Monthly is a collection released each month here at the Pad of gorgeous, mixed media products that are perfect for all kids of art journaling projects. They are created by some of the most talented mixed media designers in the scrapping world: Paula Kesselring, Nancie Rowe Janitz, Lynne-Marie and Little Butterfly Wings. They release one big kit around three words… April’s words are CALM/ PASSING/ STORM. Then, each designer releases a few other add-on kits that coordinate perfectly with the theme and palette of the main kit. Let’s take a look at an image of the main kit, reminding us that every storm eventually passes. Remember what they say about April showers:
Here are some lovely layouts created with the main kit and the add-ons. People were really feeling this kit! There were so many to choose from:
From sbpoet:
from grantandlaurensmom:
from Lindzee:
from Ga_L:
from Cath:
from Tree City:
from TheMrsPeel:
and from Dalis (if you go to this page, there is a video posted about how she made this!):
Hope you’ve been inspired to create your own mixed media masterpiece! Remember that you can get this goodness in a subscription and save money on the add-ons. Plus, you get exclusive access to our private M3 forum where you can trade ideas and inspiration and participate in challenges.
Have a wonderful weekend and remember: Nothing Compares 2 U. :)

Great post. I love the Prince tribute. I can relate to what you were saying about the feeling of losing someone you sort of grew up with (in a way). It is weird because I had forgotten so many of the amazing songs until I heard them yesterday. Tragic.

Ohhh Liana, Prince was an Idol for me too and He was the soundtrack of my teenage years!Rewind back to 1984 when released his album Purple Rain, and I first heard the opening of “Let’s Go Crazy,” that was me — hooked. And who does not remember the memorable scene from”Pretty Woman” when Julia Roberts’ sings “Kiss” while sporting headphones in a large bubble bath?!!!
He will be missed!

I’m glad that they played so brightly with the M3 April’s kit!!! It is amazing for sure!
