Hello everyone and happy spring! It’s Polly Karen here. I’m here with a look at the new batch of monthly challenges. This year we added one more challenge each month to give you more opportunities for creating pages! Now instead of 7 monthly challenges, we’ve added an eighth challenge. You do not have to complete all 8 challenges in order to have a change to win a guest spot on the creative team either, we added another one for those who have requested more challenges and you still only have to complete 7 of them to be considered for a guest spot on the creative team! You can choose one to skip if you want! So, mostly everything remains the same. You complete challenges in order to earn a coupon of your next purchase in the store (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%) AND everyone who completes at least 7 challenges will be considered for a one month guest spot on the creative team (The Pollys). So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Journaling Challenge – The first challenge for May is hosted by Ashley (ashleywb) and she’s not going to tell you what to journaling about, she’s going to tell you where to journal. Ashley wants to see your journaling on top of your photo. Here’s a great sample layout created by Ashley:
2. Random Challenge – Next up is the Random Challenge and this month it is hosted by Cynthia (MrsPeel). Cynthia wants you to create a layout about your favorite more of transportation. Here is a super fun page she created:
3. Inspiration Challenge – Lori (lcpereyra) is hosting the Inspiration Challenge for May. She wants you to take this challenge literally and scrap about what inspires you. Lori created the following layout about what inspires her:
4. Template Challenge – The Template Challenge for May is hosted by Amanda (MandaKay) and the free template for you to play with was generously supplied by Cheryl of Fiddle Dee Dee Designs. You simply download the free template and create a layout with it. Here is a look at the free template followed by a page created by Amanda:
5. Style Challenge – Heather (HeatherB) is the host for May’s Style Challenge. Heather is challenging you to create a double page layout this month. If you need help getting started you can even look at the double page templates in the store. Here is a fabulous double page spread created by Heather:
6. Scraplift Challenge – This month the Scraplift Challenge is hosted by Kimberlee and she has selected the talented Donna Espiritu AKA scrappydonna for you to scraplift. Simply check out Donna’s Gallery and find a page that inspires you and then create your own layout inspired by her page. Here is a layout created by Kimberlee:
7. Photography Challenge – Julie (mrs2a50) is hosting the Photography Challenge for May. Julie wants you to take some macro photos, or use your zoom lens to get up close and personal and then scrap that photo (those photos). Here is a stunning example created by Julie:
8. BYOC Challenge – Last, but certainly not least is the BYOC Challenge. May’s BYOC Challenge will be posted to the forum on Friday, May 6th when all the new BYOC Products for May will be released in the store. This challenge, hosted by Renee (renee82), is to use 90% of the products on your page from the current BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.
Challenge Galleries: (post your pages to these galleries)
Another month and another 8 great new challenges to keep you busy scrapping. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above. Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum. See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the May Challenge Pad HERE to get started! Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month. I’ll be back near the end of the month to shine the spotlight on some of the pages created for these challenges! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy scrapping!
