Hello everyone! Polly Karen here! It’s June and I’m here to show off the 8 monthly challenges that the Challenge Polly’s have created for this month. Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%) AND everyone who completes at least 7 challenges will be considered for a one month guest spot on the creative team (The Pollys). So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Inspiration Challenge – June’s Inspiration Challenge is being hosted by our fabulous Guest Polly Jeanet and she came up with a super cool inspiration for us this month. She wants you to find inspiration from one of the Masters of Art. Jeanet shows in the forum how she used Wiki Art to take inspiration from a painting by Villiam Hammershøj. Here is the gorgeous layout Jeanet created:
2. Style Challenge – Heather (HeatherB) is hosting the Style Challenge for this month and she is challenging you to create a double page layout. If you’re not used to creating in this style, she’s linked up a whole category of templates to get you started. Here is a double page spread created by Heather:
3. Journaling Challenge – I am super excited that I get to host one of the challenges myself this month. I LOVE journaling, but I know others don’t always, so rather than tell you what to journal about, I’m challenging you to find space for journaling, even on a busy background type of layout. Here is a sample I created showing how I made space for journaling on my busy background:
4. Scraplift Challenge – June’s scraplift challenge, hosted by Ashley (ashleywb) is to find a layout in ArmyGrl’s gallery that you love and then create a layout inspired by her page. Ashley picked this page from Lisa’s (ArmyGrl’s) gallery and then created the following scraplifted layout:
5. Random Challenge – June’s Random Challenge, hosted by Lori (lcpereyra) is to add circles to a layout. You can use buttons, flairs, sequings, beads, round stitching, paintwork, round tags or anything in your stash that is round! Here is a fabulous page created by Lori:
6. Photography Challenge – This month’s Photography Challenge is hosted by Heather (talktoheather) and she wants you to focus on capturing your subject(s) motion this month. Here is an adorable photo of Heather’s son in action:
7. Template Challenge – Renee (renee82) is hosting June’s Template Challenge. The challenge is to use the free template supplied by Cheryl of Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs and create a layout using it. Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample created by Renee:
8. BYOC Challenge – Last but not least we have the BYOC Challenge. This challenge is hosted and posted by Cynthia (MrsPeel). This challenge is to use 90% of the products on your page from the current BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers. Here is a gorgeous page created by Cynthia:
Challenge Galleries: (post your pages to these galleries)
I really love writing up these posts each month and seeing the creative ideas our Polly’s come up with each month!! Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above. Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum. See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the June Challenge Pad HERE to get started! Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month. I’ll be back near the end of the month to shine my spotlight on some of the pages created for these challenges! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy scrapping!
