Hello pad ponderers! We are off to a pretty good start to our school year. We have our daily routine worked out. One thing that has really started to be a struggle is figuring out meals. To put some pep into our mundane meals I turned to Pinterest of course!
We are a mixed family of palettes and having picky eaters can be a little bit taxing. To cope, we had to come up with clever ways to get the kids involved in the meal process. Being involved has really helped the kids come around to the idea of trying new things.
Today, I want to share with you some fun ideas that we have found to work brilliantly in getting the kids excited about helping in the kitchen. Visit the TLP Pinterest Board for even more ideas.
1. Make grocery lists. Let the kids help write out the grocery list. It can be helpful to ask them for suggestions.
2. Let the little ones help shop. Whether it is pushing the cart or putting things in the cart that are on the list, getting the little ones involved can help make them feel like part of the process.
3. Let the little ones help prepare meals. There are small tasks like gathering ingredients and mixing foods that are safe for them to help with.
4. Cook their favorites. A sure fire way to have a happy plate is to cook a favorite meal.
5. Make it fun. Silly face pancakes, arranging food into silly shapes, fruit kabobs – making food fun, makes kids happy to eat.
What fun things have you tried to get your kids in the kitchen?
