NOT sure how to do the math?

    parts(elements/papers)
you used that are current in store
    ________
    divided by_____________________
total parts on page (layers on your page subtract photos and text)

    I used 16 elements/papers from the store
and 4 from retired designs for a total of 20 elements/papers

    so I divide

    16 ÷ 20 = .80 or 80%

Your pages must contain at least 75% current Lilypad product (currently for sale in the store).
If you bought it at another store, or got it free, or found it on your EHD, bonus. I promise we do not need an invoice. tee hee

    SUCCESS

if I used a template from another store or retired designer
    just
    subtract 15%

    NOPE

    Review

I am gonna grab one out of the gallery:

    40 total layers of elements/papers
6 were from retired designer and 1 was not in store but a freebie
so only 33 were in store
    33÷40=.825 or 82 1/2 % for an acceptable layout!

Now, we as host of challenges not going to pull out calculators, and count layers, divide and crunch numbers on every page. We need you to be on the honor system too. Leave your credits so we can see you are using current product. Check it out yourself.

    Take a pie

if you used more than 1/4 of things not in the store...it ain't good! lol

So for fun, if you want, do some math with me, and see what percentage your page is today!

Ummm... that made my head spin, Anne! :crazy3

    Haha!

I make it easy - I use 100% TLP products, usually from one kit to make it more simple. I have a hard time keeping track of all that otherwise.

Ditto (although sometimes I'll use more than one kit), otherwise it's too confusing.

I'd never been a 1 kit scrapper until doing so many challenges here. I think, now, I'm often a one kit and a few bits kinda scrapper. Just enough to make it fun!

I am pretty much a one kit scrapper, and I know which ones are in the store, that covers me for when I need to use a retired/outside template.

OK... That made my head ache!!! I don't do math... anywhere... the Good Lord left Math out when handing out gifts! That said. I normally use Lots of designers and kits on my pages... and have precious little eligible "stuff" , but of a mind, that I will use almost all Current stuff from here... so no question... I even feel guilty when I go looking for the "perfect" element I know I have... just from another store! I will use the calculator above... Looks handy, thank you so much for going to all the trouble of posting it and explaining it and graphically demonstrating it...

If we make something on our own in Photoshop as we're making the layout (like I made a "solid paper" for the first challenge by filling the background with color and giving it texture, or I can imagine for example making homemade word art using a font and a white stroke to make it look like a sticker), do we count these as non-current-Lilypad items, or do we leave them out of the equation entirely?

I would count it as a non current Lilypad item. Because, in theory, if you made the paper yourself, and made some word art yourself using a font, and then added in some circle shapes from Photoshop, and then added a piece of flair from the store your layout wouldn't meet the 75%. Because only 1 of the items you used (the flair) was actually from the Lilypad.

I love math and that made my head spin!!! One thing that helps me is to link up all the credits in my layout to the store. If I can't find one that is big clue that maybe I used a freebie, a retired kit or something.

Anne You had me at Pie (which i much prefer over the mathsy version of pi, 3.14 whatever that the kids & DH recite to some ridiculous number of decimal places)

I figure if you need to make calculations then you’re using too much non-TLP stuff. :)

I use almost exclusively TLP stuff. Only occasionally do I search outside my TLP folder, when I really, really want a particular item but can’t find it in my TLP stash.

How would you address text, which is just something you wrote, but used one of Leah's styles to make it word art? Without her style, it wouldn't be word art. It would be just plain old text. It's something I've been wondering. Thanks!!!!

Well said, Michele! If I need to use a non-TLP item for the MOC, I personally really try not to use more than one.

It definitely wouldn't be. ;) I was just curious. I'm trying not to use more than one non-TLP item for the MOC. Thanks for the reply!
