There will be four weekly challenges, starting on Monday, May 1st, May 8th, May 15th and May 22nd, which will all be tied into this months' muse of "color emotion". May Muse: Color Emotion Week 3: Watercolors This week, I would like you to use watercolor brushing somewhere on your page. Using watercolor brushing in your page design can be an effective tool to paint light or darker emphasis in all or or part of your layout. You can apply a watercolor brush stroke with a reduced opacity, building up color and emphasis where desired, achieving a light and airy effect or a darker, moodier effect. For my sample page, I used watercolor brushes to layer soft, light tones, especially at the top of the layout, to subtly emphasize going forward into the lightness along with the watercolor chevrons to also emphasize the upward positive flow. Available still are the template set from @Scrapping with Liz if would like to continue with the Skinnies. If you do decide to go for the Skinnies, you can find the templates available HERE. In addition @cfile created one cool triangle template that you could use (Christa's awesome template is HERE on PSD- let us know if you need any other format!). Please post your layout to the Art Journaling Gallery HERE and then post it in this thread by copying the code (at the right of your gallery image) from the box under "Share BB Code". We will draw a winner at the beginning of next month, even more incentives for your inspiration! You can use any products in The Lilypad store, make sure you follow our gallery guidelines. Pages are due last day of the month. If you have any questions, ask here in this thread. Have fun and I can't wait to see how "repetitive pattern" is used in your art journal page.
This is an ATC. I don't do a lot with brushes, so this was out of my comfort zone. I used a kit that had a watercolor look and had some brushes that I used behind the owl and the limb.
I used a watercolor bg paper and then applied a watercolor technique to the image of the forget-me-nots to create my ATC for this challenge.
Hmmm. Now that I see this here, I'm not sure I'm pleased ... I think I'm going to need more work on the top piece.
