Welcome to the Art Journaling Monthly Muse! Muse: verb: to reflect deeply on something noun: the source of artistic inspiration This past Mixed Media Monthly (M3) kit made me think of Frida Kahlo, why? Maybe it was the bold colors or maybe it was all the nature elements, stamps that were part of the kit. The thing is I love Frida, I love her dark art and I love the POP ART influence that people are adding to the vision of her. This month I will be using Frida art work and work art inspired by Frida as our inspiration. If you don't care for Frida please still join us and use any of the amazing faces and dolls in the store or around the internet. Here is my mood board, but I created an even bigger board in PINTEREST HERE. WEEK #2 Inspiration: Frida - UNIQUE WEEK #2 Challenge: Fluidity. Frida's art was dark, unique, and strong, but it had such a fluidity that was so unique to her. If you go check the PINTEREST BOARD I created you will see a lot of people using very actual fluid mediums to portray pictures of Frida. A lot of acrylic, watercolor, drippings are seen in that PINTEREST BOARD. Either let those mediums inspire you or let the definition of the word fluidity inspire you to create something out of the norm to your art. Here is my page for Week #1: My page for week #2: NOTE: Available still are the template set from Scrapping with Liz if you decide to go the "Skinny" route, but of course you don't have to you could make a full page. If you do decide to go for the Skinnies but haven't got the template from last month, you can find the templates available HERE. In addition Christa created one cool triangle template that you could use (Christa's awesome template is HERE). I used the liquify filter to blur the background and give a fluid look to this ATC. I was inspired by "Frida Kahlo" by David Conklin:
Not sure if this is what you meant, @Dalis but like Anne-Marie, I had fun creating it. I started with a 1930's self-portrait of Frida, extracted her and ran a couple of Photoshop textures on her (dry brush & underpainting), and then I started throwing paint at her. Intentionally left some splats on her face.
@bbymks5 @mcurtt @A-M Ladies, this is the amazing thing about Art Journaling, we inspire you to sit down and create what ever you create follows the inspiration as long as you were thinking of the inspiration. You have all down AMAZING!
Such great pages! Thanks for the option to opt out on Frida. After research in prep for teaching about her, I love her colors but that's about it. lol.
An ATC again. Frida talked a lot about how she painted reality. I kind of went opposite of that. Opposite colors opposite message. But I really like how it turned out. Thanks for the wonderful challenge!
You know how sometimes a LO gets away from you and you keep going and going and it just feels more and more wrong? But you can't bear to delete it? Well, this is that LO.
