HI Everyone! It's MAY! Yay! I'm so glad we are getting closer and closer to summer... it took forever for Spring to get here in NJ, but it's finally arrived! This month we are going to focus on the Split Design Style. Split Design is generally allows for an easy design and appeals visually to people. They are usually two or more equal areas on a layout - vertical, horizontal, diagonal. Many times a Split Design has: vibrant colors, large and clear typography, white space and small transitions between the areas. Not always, though. Using this type of design can allow a bigger focal point, aka image, if you'd like, but that isn't required. When I look at split design, I'm also reminded of magazines, print ads, and nowadays, web page designs. I want you to create a Split Design inspired layout with at least 2 or more large background areas on your page - diagonal, horizontal or vertical. (Not pocket pages or ATC, please). Connect the areas with photos, elements or a title. Here is my layout inspired by the Split Page Design. I used the following products: Here are some examples I found in the Pollywogs in the gallery: Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product. Your page should be posted to the Lilypad Gallery and then linked to the May Challenge Layouts thread so it can be tracked, and to this thread. The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month: 2 challenges = 10% off 4 challenges = 20% off 6 challenges = 30% off If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from the Lilypad! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges).
