    JUNE'S MUSE: WINGS OF FLIGHT

June's weekly challenges will be posted on June 5, 12, 19 and 27.

Hello everyone and welcome to this month's muse challenge. This month I wanted to use 'Wings in Flight' as our inspiration. Each week there will be a different inspiration associated with wings and flight for you to explore in your art.

    Week 2: Dragonfly Dreams
Has there been anyone that hasn't thought the word 'magic' when they have seen a dragonfly's iridescent wings sparkle in the sunlight? They symbolise renewal, self-realisation, transformation and adaptability. The name, Dragonfly, actually comes from the word dragon which was immortalised in various mythology from various cultures around the world. So how can this winged creature be anything but iridescently magical and mystical!

What does the dragonfly signify for you? Do you have any special affinity to it? I personally think that they are stunning and I just love to see them flittering around, shining brilliantly in the sunshine. :)

I spent quite an enjoyable bit of time on Pinterest last night looking at different types of dragonfly images to put together this week's mood board. I also collated a list of words that are associated with the dragonfly, one of which needs to be used in your layout (see challenge rules below). Hope you find some inspiration there. :)

    Your challenge:
Your challenge for this week is to use a dragonfly image/photo of some sort plus at least one of the *words from the list above to describe your dragonfly. *NB: the word can be a derivative or used in present or past tense - don't get too hung up on it. :) Use it somewhere on the layout, big or small. You can also use other words as well if you like and your chosen word can either be in your title or in your journaling (if you want to journal) :)

Here is my page. I extracted the dragonfly from a photo I took way back in 2009.

You may create any style of layout (ie. clean and simple, artsy, pocket style etc.) you wish, with or without photos( but for this challenge you do need an image of some sort). Create any size page you wish. This is for everyone, so have fun and see where the inspiration takes you. If you want all 4 Muses on one page that's perfectly ok or you can make 4 separate pages!! It's totally up to you! :)

Please post your layout to the Art Journaling Gallery HERE prior to June 30th and then post it in this thread by copying the code (at the right of your gallery image) from the box under "Share BB Code".

We will draw a winner at the beginning of next month for a coupon!! You can use any products in The Lilypad store or retired products from current Lilypad designers, (just make sure you follow our gallery guidelines).

If you have any questions, ask away! :)

Hope you join me for this month's challenge!

This is my first month at TLP, so I didn’t get what you were doing until your second panel was added, and read back through the rules. I LOVE IT! I can see that this becomes a double challenge as you make each panel separately but work together. Brilliant! Your anticipation for what’s next must be high! I will try this way of doing it next month.

Once again, I didn't notice the 2nd "rule" until I had uploaded the LO. *roll eyes*

    Size of LO is 12" x 6".

In the middle of the night I had the thought that I did not stick to the color scheme of the first mood board at all, and am probably beyond the limits of the 2nd one! If my LO fails to meet the Color Rule, please let me know, and I will adjust it. Thanks.

Agnes, the second part was to use one of the words which you did, "dreams", so no worries! :)

Sharron, don't fret, all good with the first and with this one you used an image of a dragonfly and at least one of the words in the list so you are all good! :)

Love what everybody has created so far! I used two of the word choices as titles; Self-realization and Self-discovery.
