You don't have to have odd shapes. Since I do not know every software, there is flexibility in how you achieve the mosaic. There can be squares, circles, triangular, or irregular. Step one of the directions explains this: 1. Create a geometric mosaic out of an image. The geometric mosaic can be square, circle, triangle or irregular like my example. If we do find a way to figure it out, I will add it to the second post. Sometimes, playing with the software or mixing effects you find ways to the same end result.
I understand how these technique challenges may be the least favourite but your step by step was awesome! Such a pleasure for me in PSE, I didn't have to change anything. Worked like a dream. Hat's off to you. Original image for the mosaic was not the same as the one used as a focal photo of the layout.
omigoodness..... I LOVE them! They are wonderful! I'm sooooo excited to see them! @carrie1977 @Eyeore Woot! Made my day! (I'm such a dork!)

hello Jenn. Thank you for the link to the Serif instructons for this technique. Here's my layout. I used a photo of the sun going down over the sea for the background.
@jk703 Hi Jenn, it won't let me add the file as an edit to my original post. The sunset photo is attached here instead.
Very cool how the sun becomes the lightest spot, and the waves have different coloring depending on shadows from the sun! Sunsets (or sunrises) are my favorite pictures!
This is SO super addicting! I love how simple the steps were! Thanks for the fun challenge @jk703 here's my original photo... a bokeh picture of our Christmas tree.
@Karen Oh wow! I took some gorgeous bokeh photos of the tree this year and never thought of using those!!!! I was going to use them to make background papers. May have to steal your idea!!!!
I must say that I was taken aback when I first read this challenge....thinking "NO WAY"....but I am so excited as I followed the "super terrific" directions and this challenge turned out to be a lot easier than it first seemed. Thanks for a fun challenge. Here is my page hope it's okay.
I too gave up watching for the Day 22 post sometime around midnight, so was up early and anxious to see this morning... How cool is that.. have never done anything like that! Will have to choose a photo and get started... Want to check out the other instruction links you posted also...
