Hi girls! I have a question, for a friend a made this handlettering drawing, it's for a 24 hour walk to collect money for cancer cure.
She want's it printed on t-shirts, the store wants a digital file of the tree. They will do it for her but it will cost 50 euro, I've told her I will try to do it for her.
I tried to select different pieces, but it wasn't like I wanted: can any of you tell me what to do?

Are you able to scan it? What format do they want? PDF? PNG? TIFF?

I was going to mention scanning, too.

    It's really beautiful.

That is so wonderful Annemieke! I would see about a scanner too! If you don't have one would the local FedEx or UPS (if you have one) does! At least ours here does. And like Margaret @londoncuppa said make sure you get what format they have.

In photoshop? How to get the tree selected only - without the white background? Is that what you are asking?

If so - play with levels and brightness/contrast (both are Adjustment Layers). Get so the blacks are dark and the white is white. Then use your magic wand to select only the white (make sure contiguous is not checked - in tool bar near top). You can delete the white background and you should have just the black drawing of the tree.
Then save as a PNG file so the background is transparent and can go on any color T shirt.

If this is not what you are asking ... just ignore me! :giggle

This is exactly what I meant! I had tried to use the magic wand but it didn't work, with your advice to uncheck the contiguous it did! Thank you so much Jenn!!!!!! Hugs!

Thanks girls! I had scanned it for her, but that wasn't what they wanted.
With the tip from @jenn mccabe it worked, thanks for helping me out!

Yes this and once the levels are adjusted so it's black/black and white/white you can make it a brush and it will do all the selecting for you.

    That's so smart!

I would've done the select color, and probably made a mess of the whole thing! Making a mental note - adjustment layers....

Also, if it's an image with only one layer that is locked as 'background' just change the to 'new layer' by right clicking on the image. Then you can follow Jenn's steps from there on. I often do that when i want the word art from a card to put on a photo.
