A woman I know who was once my eldest son's nursery school girlfriend, home schools their children and is able to travel the world as part of their education. The family was off the the SW recently, and had a FB image of her and the children in front of a sign of a nut. A pistachio. I knew it wasn't in Iran, nor California when she asked people to guess where they had been. Alamogordo!! which is a pistachio growing area! I mean I went out of my way to go to Gilroy, the Garlic capital, and nearly died of pleasure in Castroville, the world artichoke capital...but who knew about those NM pistachios. You were holding out Anne but then you are a sneaky one! I think I need to plan another SW trip....
ha ha ha... when you said they had a picture next to a nut... I thought you were going to say it was Anne! Lol! Very interesting though, didn't know that about pistachios either. I love those things!
bhahhaha...we are nuts here...that you all know about me..but the world's largest pistachio is indeed here in my town: but............ you have to be careful...as this last Father's DAy this happened: Hostage situation at Alamogordo pistachio farm ends, suspect in custody and I don't like pistachios! tee hee, we also have tons of Pecans, and I can eat my weight in Pecans.
Casa de Fruta in Los Banos (which you may have driven thru if you went to Gilroy) has really good pistachios!
Oh My! If I ever come to see you in person.............. I NEED to get a years supply of pistachios and pecans!
This thread made me crave pistachios.... so I bought a bag to snack on this weekend for my scrappy retreat. I'll think of your town @AnneofAlamo while I'm enjoying them.
