January 10: Clean and Simple (Style Challenge)

Welcome to Day 10 of MOC 2018! I am excited to host this Style Challenge for you because it's truly a challenge for me... which makes it SUPER FUN, am I right? :giggle

Clean and simple layouts really showcase the lovely fact that sometimes less is more!

Clean and simple pages are also called minimal - a minimal amount of elements and "extras" complement your photo and keep that photo the true focal point of the page.

    Requirements:
    - Create a clean and simple page, using one photo
    - Use a solid neutral background paper. Textured paper is OK, but no patterns or multi-colored pages. Only one {neutral} color.
    - Use THREE to FIVE other design elements on your page TOTAL. This could include elements, frames, paper pieces, word art, etc... (NO paint or scatters).
    - You can add journaling and/or date if desired, even if they are "extra elements" (meaning that they won't count as one of your 3-5 elements.) But no more than three sentences or journaling.

RECAP: One photo. Neutral Background. 3-5 other things (no less than 3 and no more than 5). Date and/or max of 3 sentences of journaling optional which will NOT be included in your element count.

Here's my page. I can't wait to see what you create!

Elements: paper mat, heart button, date tag, stitching and WA
Additional: 2 sentences of journaling and date

Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places:
    1. Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (not an outside hosting site).
    2. Posted in your page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder. You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean.
    3. Posted in this thread. People can comment here if they wish.
Pages should contain at least 75% current Lilypad product (currently for sale in the store from either permanent designers or guest designers).

Me, too :giggle ... I was counting elements as I scrapped, making decisions, lol. But I love the simplicity of the page and how it really kept the focus on the photo and memory.

Love the challenge but I do have a question. In your layout isn't that a patterned paper you have under the photo peeking out?

    No paint?! *dying inside*
The minimalist challenges are always a stretch for me but that's what MOC is all about!

Yes. The BACKGROUND paper must be solid and neutral, but I used a paper piece (mat) as one of my 5 elements. Make sense?

I hate doing clean lines usually, lol. Thank you for hosting this challenge!! This photo is one of several I've just not managed to figure out how to scrap/AJ. Your list made it pop immediately into my mind.

...and this simple challenge will probably take me longer than any of my "pile it all on" pages. :giggle Clean and simple is an art form in my opinion! Off to find a good photo. :agree

I lean toward clean and simple pages for my own (I think)... but I still take forever in my decisions!!!! :P

Oh, so I guess this is MY challenge of the challenges! :) I totally, immensely dislike this kind of scrapping! One photo or plain! (But I love that about scrapping, that one person's love isn't another's and that we are all so individual but every page always looks awesome!) :) So, I'll do it, just for you! At least it shouldn't take long...once I've found that perfect photo! :) :) :)

Yes. Got it. Paper pieces can count as elements. Thanks, that helps.

I totally agree! It only seems easy but, yes, I find it can take me longer than I thought.
