Hey y’all! I am pleased as punch to be back here answerin’ your questions at The Pad. It’s be just delightful to see such a warm welcome now that I’ve come back home. Y’all have some great questions, so let’s get right too it.
The first question comes from Kristina. She writes, “how do you organize your pocket cards?! There are sooooooo many. I couldn’t ever use them all, and mostly forget I have them. (I’m not a pocket scrapper.) But i just joined the planner craze, and I know pocket cards would fit inside my planner perfectly, to aid in note taking, list making, memory keeping, and prettying… so how do I keep them straight?!”
Girl, if I haven’t arranged my pocket cards once, I’ve arranged them a thousand times! I always seem to think of a way that will better suit my scrapbooking needs. The program I use lets me tag things, so I usually tag my cards in one of the following categories: journal cards (meant for journaling), blank cards, filler cards, and quote cards. So then, when I’m sittin’ on the porch putting together a layout, if I want a pocket card with a quote, I know where I can go to find it. I also have a category for template cards, you know like the fabulous ones from Paislee Press where I want to add my picture before I use it. This is how I have them organized right now.
The next question is from an anonymous reader who asks, “I’m on a good amount of creative teams. How can I keep myself organized so that you can get all of your required layouts done without missing anything?”
I’ve been there before! My answer might surprise you…but I kept myself organized by using really good lists. I don’t know where I’d be y’all without my lists. Usually I have one running for all my scrappin’ responsibilities, and I keep track of it there. So if I have to do a layout for that sweetpea Heather Joyce, I’ll put “Layout for Heather” on my list, and then underneath that I’ll put a few smaller jobs to get done: scrap layout, post layout, note layout in my requirements. This has kept me in good graces with all the fab designers I’ve worked for.
Our last question comes from a frisky reader by the name of Amy. She writes, “Polly, how do you get it all done? You seem to be superhuman, answering our questions, scrapbooking your froggy heart out, all while taking care of that man of yours Bart. What’s your secret for keeping everyone happy :)?”
Well I’ll be Amy…if that isn’t the most direct question. I’m blushin’ here. Now you know, a good Southern Froggy Gal doesn’t spill all her secrets, but I think I can share one with you. The way I keep everyone around me happy is by keepin’ me happy! I’m learnin’ more and more to love me and do what makes me happy because when I’m happy, I can share that with everyone. The real secret is that it doesn’t all get done all the time. Sometimes I have to say no, or admit that I can’t get something done in time. As long as I’m doing the best I can and making myself happy, I trust that those around me will understand when something falls between the cracks. And having such a sweetheart of a man in Bart surely helps!
Well that’s all for this month. Remember to keep sendin’ in the questions you want answered by little ol’ me. You can send them to me in the forum, or look for a new Dear Polly thread, or even post them to the TLP Facebook account. I’m always watchin’ and waitin’ to help y’all out! Bye!
