#letstalkabouthashtags
Ahhh the hashtag. Personally one of my most favorite parts of Social Media (especially in Instagram), but I know that they can be very confusing and sometimes annoying to many people. So today I would like to breakdown exactly what a hashtag is for you and give you a couple tips that I have picked up along the way. First of all, what exactly is a hashtag? The simplest way to explain it is the # symbol added before a keyword or group of words. What do hashtags do?When you hashtag a word or phrase with the # symbol it creates a link. That link can be used to find images, tweets, updates, pins (depending on the social media platform), etc with the same content and hashtag. Hashtags can be used for many different things. One of the most popular in the last year or so is for the various photo a day challenges from around the net. Here at TLP we recently moved from a month long … [Read more...]

Halloween HodgePodge
So, Halloween will be here soon and I've decided to gather a few things to get you inspired and ready to scrap it. We honestly don't "celebrate" Halloween in our house, but we do like our non-scary costumes and use the holiday as an excuse to get new dress-up clothes :). My kids wear them constantly, including on the 31st when we get together with family and eat lots of treats. Whether you do sweet or scary or nothing at all on All Hallow's Eve, I hope you will find something here you can use in your scrapping!Halloween QuotesNothing on Earth so beautiful as the final haul on Halloween night. ~Steve Almond'Tis now the very witching time of night,When churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes outContagion to this world.~William ShakespeareHold on, man. We don't go anywhere with "scary," "spooky," "haunted," or "forbidden" in the title. ~From Scooby-DooI don't know that … [Read more...]
“Stained Glass” Autumn Leaves
Hi Happy Scrappers!Polly Liana here, with a fun Fall DIY project that's great to do with kids. Here in Massachusetts, we're starting to feel that crisp, cool Autumn air outside. The other day, my daughter and I decided to work together on a project that would make our windows look more festive and get rid of a few lonely, broken crayons in the process. Here's what we did:First, we carefully grated orange, brown, yellow and red crayons with a cheese graters. (obviously, I handled the last little nubs so her fingers didn't get grated!) Here's what it looked like with all of them grated. You don't need very much, just a half of a thick crayon is good: Next, I took a large sheet of waxed paper and folded in half: Then, my daughter and I sprinkled the various colors around one half of the waxed paper, being careful to spread it evenly (avoid piling): Here's … [Read more...]

Fearless Filters and Wordart
Did you know you can apply your filters to your own word art? (or a designer's, but let's make our own for now)First, what I did was choose a background to use for my word art, or title. I picked Amy Wolff's That's Scary kit. It's full of gorgeous textured papers and colors, perfect for this kind of title. Okay, now we're ready for the fun stuff!Isn't it neat how many effects you can get from playing with your filters on your own titles? These are pretty straightfoward titles, of course. Try it out!And then post your creations up on THIS THREAD in the forum!Your fearlessly filtering PollyJulie … [Read more...]
Fall Quotes
I love settling into the fall months (and this week we're jumping right into fall with chilly temperatures) . . the colors, the sweaters, the anticipation of the upcoming holidays, the baking! Today I have some unique fall/Halloween quotes to use as we document the season.Designers want me to dress like spring, in billowing things. I don't feel like spring. I feel like a warm red autumn. - Marilyn MonroeI would rather sit on a pumpkin, and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion. - Henry David ThoreauEven if something is left undone, everyone must take time to sit still and watch the leaves turn. - Elizabeth LawrenceIt was one of those perfect English autumnal days which occur more frequently in memory than in life. - P.D. JamesEvery leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree. - Emily BronteIf human beings had genuine courage, they'd wear … [Read more...]
Its what GSO are made of………..
Have you ever wondered how in the world do they pick those Gallery Stand Out pages on the FINGER POINTING blog? Long ago, I was honored to be a Finger Pointer, and there is no set "way", but there are things each Pointer does. They go thru galleries, lots of them. Open galleries such as DST, and MSA. Then store galleries just like here at the LILY pad.I have been following this phenomenon of pages chosen for a while have noticed a huge amount of pages chosen that are the-Lily Pad products! Starting with a good foundation is the key!! And the designers at the-Lily Pad are original and that draws the eye of the Finger Pointer! For example, over the past few days, I have seen many pages that feature Lily Pad items, such asGratitude Documented | Happy Face by Chantalkmrphoto titled PL Week 42halloween by amandaresendeI thought maybe it was just this month of … [Read more...]
