Trend watch- Vellum + Transparent Overlays
Trend watch- Vellum + Transparent Overlays by FarrahJoblingRaindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens. Brown paper packages tied up with strings. And best of all, when Trend Watches are fully in swing. These are a few of my favorite things…As the Christmas countdown begins, I always think of my favorite things. My favorite things from my traditional scrapping days were pockets and vellum! They are both so versatile! I used to have a stack of transparencies that I would cut, fill with goodies, and sew into any shape I wanted. And, who doesn’t love vellum? You can layer it under, over, or around anything at all. You can emboss it or even print right onto it yourself, or buy vellum in any pattern you can imagine. Let's not forget that Project Life just wouldn’t be Project Life without pockets! These are a few of my favorite … [Read more...]

DYD: Confetti Pockets
Hey scrappers, Polly Jewelle here! I'm so excited because December 1st is finally here! I along with many other will be starting to document their December today. Before you get started I have another tutorial to share with you. Today I'm going to demonstrate how to make confetti pockets. I'm going to show how to make a confetti pocket for hybrid albums as well as how to make one on a digital layout. Let's get started!Digital Confetti Pocket1 - Compile your layout including a clear pocket for confetti. On my layout below I used the clear 3 x 4 pocket in Pear Tree {confetti} by Sara Gleason. 2 - Add scatters inside of your pocket. To do this all scatter layers should be BELOW your pocket layer. Spend time spreading your scatters out so they aren't all bunched together. 3 - Add shadows to the scatters. Keep in mind how each type of scatter will have a different size … [Read more...]

Thankfulness is in the Air
In America, this week, there is a huge holiday called Thanksgiving. The history is Pilgrims were having a meal of thanksgiving and because ot the Native American Indians they were able to grow the food in abundance. They were thankful because they were alive!Thru the years it was just a time to gather after the harvest was brought in and be thankful. It was a presidential proclamation in 1863 It evolved, and in 1941, in America it became an official holiday. It was done to help give our country an economic boost during the depression, and to help Americans remember to be thankful for what we did have. Our lives, freedom and family. It became a time to gather all the family and friends around the table and enjoy the bounty.Growing up as a Navy brat (daughter of Navy Chief), we were in remote and foreign lands most Novembers. This meant, our home was the hub for Thanksgiving. … [Read more...]
Polly Picks: Rebecca Hilleary
Today's Polly Pick is Rebecca Hilleary and honestly, I am thrilled to show her off a little. I spent a bit of time in her gallery this week and she is ROCKIN'. Seriously, just check it out for yourself and I promise, it will inspire you. First of all, she is a master of Pocket Pages and I love how she uses them for her Project Life pages and also as a blueprint to get several photos on a page. In fact, many of her stunning layouts showcase multiple photos, something that is difficult for a lot of us. But that's not all she is great at... take a look at some of her single photo pages. She makes great use of the BIG photo, filling pages with a single photo. Besides the picture itself being fabulous, the overall effect of the page is just perfect. These pages print out very well, also, really showing off that smile or landscape. Another thing that I really like about Rebecca's … [Read more...]
College Hunting! (& being thankful)
I know some of you have already been through this with your older kids, some of you are anticipating it this year, while others have it far in their kids' future--college hunting! Not to mention high school graduation, senior year and all its stuff, too. This Thanksgiving Break I've been carting my daughter to several colleges and universities. It's exhausting! But at the same time, exciting. It's also weird seeing the college hunting from the OTHER side. Last time, I was the student looking at universities. So weird. ◊So what does The Lily Pad have to help you celebrate your child's upcoming launch from high school?and there's this lovely kit, too. ↓For a little more whimsical touch: ↓And of course, there's all the hoopla leading up to graduation, like filling out applications to college, SAT, ACT, Senior breakfasts, nights, Proms, Pictures... 8-OThis isn't just for … [Read more...]
