Our latest Polly Picks sale includes products chosen by the lovely Sarah (sarahbhb):Sarah (sarahbhb) is one of our rockin' hybrid Pollys at The Lilypad. You can see many of Sarah's awesome hybrid projects in the gallery and right here on the blog along with step by step instructions! Sarah also run's a couple of pocket style art journaling challenges each month in the forum. We asked Sarah to describe her style, and this is what she had to say:“I feel like my style is fairly eclectic, I have clean and simple pages, messy art journaling pages, pocket pages which follow both styles and everything in between. The one thing that ties everything that I do together is that over the course of the past year or so I became a 100% hybrid … [Read more...]
Easter Wall Art
Hi all, Sarah here and I'm excited to share another project I've created with my art wall that I originally set up as an advent calendar. After taking the time to hang all of the 3M Command hooks and binder clips in December I decided I wanted to keep them up for a year and each month create an art wall featuring product from each month's Memory Pockets Monthly collection and photos from prior years for each specific month.Since Easter is in early April this year I thought it would be fun to take down my March wall art early and hang some cute cut out eggs using a variety of papers from the March BYOC. I created these with a cut file from the Silhouette store but you could create the same sort of thing by clipping papers to an egg shape in your scrapping software and cutting by hand. One of the things I love about using the BYOC is that I didn't have to worry about … [Read more...]

Butter Lamb Centerpiece Tutorial
Hi Happy Scrappers!Well, Spring is technically here but in Massachusetts it still very much looks like winter with more than a foot of snow still on the ground! Oh well, for many of us, Easter is next Sunday so that's something, right? In our family, Easter always meant a big homemade brunch and a fun egg hunt. Every year since I was little, my Mom would make a butter lamb centerpiece by hand. When I was a teenager, she taught me how to make it and I've been making it every Easter ever since. It's always a hit at brunch and it's not as difficult as it looks. So, let's get going, shall we? You're going to need two quarter sticks of butter plus a few extra pieces, a fine strainer, a few toothpicks, a small thin knife, four coffee beans, two black peppercorns, a small piece of red thread, two caraway seeds and two pieces of grass or chives. First, cut one of the quarter … [Read more...]

Hi all! Polly Jewelle here with another edition of Behind the Design. It has been awhile since our last Behind the Design blog post. Our designers have been super busy producint awesome products for you. Finally with a little bit of pleading and maybe a few bribes some more of the designers here at The LilyPad agreed to show off their design spaces at home. They also agreed to answer a few questions about their design space that will allow us to get to know them better. This month we are going behind the designs ofKrista SahlinSahlin StudioMac or PC? PC: I have a (DELL)18GB RAM OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bi. Coffee or tea (or both/neither)? Is it weird that I like all of the above? I must have my coffee in the morning (and throughout the day). At night, I like to drink tea during our veg/TV time. (And, my splurge is a homemade hot chocolate. OK, the … [Read more...]

Using Your Silhouette to Add Theme to Pocket Scrapping Projects
Hi all, Sarah here and I want to talk about something that I do quite regularly for my pocket scrapping projects. I love using a kit or coordinating products to complete a pocket scrapping layout but sometimes when you're looking at documenting such a wide variety of memories on a single page it's hard to find a kit that speaks to everthing on that page. One way that I get around this is by using cut files from the Silhouette store and filling them with papers and/or paint from whatever kit or collection I'm using to ensure that everything matches. For this first page I wanted to document the large amount of blue jays that my daughter and I saw in our yard that day, but I didn't think to take a photo as we were admiring the birds. I love Amy Wolff's kit Urban Fusion for the majority of this page. The red and blue colors worked well with my memories, I love the fun word art and … [Read more...]
Mixed Media Monthly: March edition of Scrap with Heather
I know I say this every month, but the colors and the theme of this month's Mixed Media Monthly is so gorgeous! This is such a great intro to spring! I decided to do something a little different this month. Normally, I do a pretty flat art journal page. I just love all the flowery elements and wanted to do a more traditional photo-less scrapbook style. To do that I just added a larger shadow to the elements to make them pop off the background a bit more.Last week in the subscriber forum, I started a series on design concepts and when I started putting the page together, I naturally went to using the rule of thirds. Also, when I'm bundling little clusters around the page, I like to work in odd numbers. When I would drag over a flower, I would use CTRL + J (Command + J on a Mac) twice to duplicate it twice more for a total of three. It's a fun easy tip when pulling together a … [Read more...]
