To Do List: Productivity Using Lists Part 1
I live my life by lists. I always have. I am notorious for having a number of lists going, all on different pads and notebooks, napkins, pretty much anywhere. I've experiemented with lots of different tools for keeping my lists, and I have yet to find one that I can live with long term. What I have found is a system for making and managing my lists. As you may know, I am a school administrator in my "outside" life. Last year, I read a book called The Together Leader by Maia Heyck-Merlin and it changed the way I approach getting things done. This three level system has kept me on top of my life for over a year now, so let me share it with you! The major list (The Later List) – It all starts with one major list. At the beginning of the month, I start out by dividing it into three categories, based on my areas of focus: scrapbooking, school, and home. From that point, I start listing … [Read more...]
MOC 2018 Spotlight – Take 1
Hello everyone! It's Polly Karen here bringing you a special edition of my regular monthly Challenge Spotlight post, but this time I will be spotlighting a tiny smidgen of the gajillions of layouts that are flooding the gallery this month. January is a SUPER special month at The Lilypad because we host a fabulous event called the Month of Challenges or MOC for short. We spend months and months getting ready for this event so that we can bring you fun and creative challenges each day. Some are definitely easier than others, but they are all designed to inspire you to scrap your memories and maybe even learn something new along the way. You can find all … [Read more...]

MOC 6: Reflections and a Pep Talk
Hi Fabulous Pad Scrappers!Polly Liana here, hoping you're having a great week. I'm here today with a quick blog post directed mostly to the many participants of our Month of Challenges (MOC) 6 here at the Lilypad. You're now about a third of the way through the month and I thought you might need a pep talk.I've been teaching kindergarten to students in disadvantaged areas for nearly a quarter of a century so I've learned a thing or two about challenges and encouragement. One of the main things I tell my students right off the bat every year is that my job is to give them hard work to do. If things feel easy, they're not really learning anything. Sure, it's really nice to complete an easy task but if your goal is to learn something, you're going to have to struggle at least a little. But they know I'll be there to support them when things get tricky-- that's my job. I also … [Read more...]
