Nondestructive Shadowing with the Dodge & Burn Tools
Hello all my artsy friends! I am back with the nondestructive shadowing technique I talked about in my washi tape tutorial from last week. Now that you have your digital washi tape made, you can add some dimension and reality to it with the Dodge and Burn tools. You may be familiar with this technique, but I am going to show you how to use these tools in a nondestructive way that allows you to adjust the effects in the end. First, let's take look at the impact this technique has on your layout: Notice how the tape looks like it is actually attaching the frame to the page on the right side, as opposed to just laying on top of it on the left? This effect is easy to achieve with the following steps. Step 1. Place the washi tape where you want it on the page. Create a new layer above the washi tape in the layers palette. Fill this … [Read more...]
Hybrid Shaker Card
Hey there, it's Katrina sharing a hybrid shaker card with you today. This is a fun way to put some "wow" into your cards. It does take a little work and practice, but it's a good way to put those traditional supplies that you may still have (or want to shop for!) to good use!I used a collab kit from Little Butterfly Wings/Studio Basic for my card. It's the Carpe Diem bundle and I am IN LOVE with this collection! I have already done this card, plus another hybrid layout with it!I am going to take you thru a few of the steps of making this. First you need to cut out a shape on your card front/base. I attached my pattern paper and then cut out the opening with some metal dies and a manual die cutting machine. You could also do this with your electronic machine, but I was just playing around and experimenting!Next, you need to cover your opening with a piece of … [Read more...]

Galaxy Backgrounds
Hi Pad Scrappers!Polly Liana here with a really cool hybrid project that incorporates a current trend in papercrafting: galaxy backgrounds.
